Delaware Park will host an eight-race card on Wednesday, July 25. Post time for the card is 1:15 p.m., and here are some horses to watch:

Race 3 – Maiden Special Weight

  • Two-year-olds are scheduled to go 7 1/2 furlongs on the turf.
  • With rain showers in the forecast, though, don’t be surprised if this one ends up on the main track.
  • #2 Souper Courage (3-1) was entered and scratched from a rugged Laurel Park maiden event on the main track July 22, trainer Mike Trombetta instead opting to breeze him three-eighths at Fair Hill. The Giant’s Causeway colt has the breeding to thrive on either surface; while Giant’s Causeway is known for getting good turf runners, Souper Courage’s dam, the Majestic Warrior mare Seasoned Warrior, was Grade 2-placed at two on the main track. Trombetta can get a winner first out of the box, and his go-to rider, Julian Pimentel, comes in for the mount.
  • The Anthony Pecoraro trainee #8 Crypto Currency (12-1) didn’t show a ton on debut, finishing fourth of five in a Delaware Park maiden race, showing speed before fading to 20 lengths behind the winner, Tybalt. But the show horse that day, Chattel, did return to defeat Laurel Park maidens next out. This one will receive Lasix for the first time here — Pecoraro scores with 38 percent of his first-Lasix runners at a substantial flat-bet profit — and will get leading rider Carol Cedeno up.
  • Selections: 2-4-8-6
