From a National Thoroughbred Racing Association release

American Pharoah who became America’s 12th Triple Crown winner after breaking a thirty-seven year drought on June 6 at Belmont Park, remains the unanimous leader of the NTRA Top Thoroughbred Poll, results of which were released today. The Pioneerof the Nile colt received all 43first-place votes for 430 points.

Making his first appearance on the NTRA Poll and in 10th position with (85) points is Midwest Thoroughbreds’ homebred The Pizza Man, recent winner of the G. I Arlington Million this past Saturday. According to his trainer Roger Brueggemann, the son of English Channel is back at his home base at Churchill Downs where they will map out his next race leading up to the Grade I $3,000,000 Breeders’ Cup Turf.

Rounding out the field are Whitney winner Honor Code (381); Eclipse Award champion Beholder (279); 2013 two-year-old Eclipse Champion Shared Belief (225); Lady Eli (149); Liam’s Map (146); Private Zone (116); Texas Red (112) and in ninth 2014 Belmont Stakes winner Tonalist (94).

Eligible media cast votes for their top 10 horses, with points awarded on a 10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 basis.  The Top Thoroughbred Poll is conducted weekly through the Monday, November 2 following the Breeders’ Cup World Championships which will be held at Keeneland Race Course, Lexington, Ky., October 29 and 30.
