From a Monmouth Park release

Winning Stables & Midnight Rider LLC’s Fast Flying Rumor popped out of the gate in front and never looked back, besting heavily favored Souper Colossal by just over a length in the $60,000 Select Stakes at Monmouth Park on Sunday.

With Samuel Camacho Jr. aboard, Fast Flying Rumor covered the 5 ½ furlongs over firm turf in 1:02 1/5 and returned $37.20, $6.40 and $2.80.  The exacta came back $65.80 with Souper Colossal paying $2.40 and $2.10.  It was another 2 ½ lengths back to Bluegrass Singer, who paid $2.10 to show.

“It was good that he got a great start,” said winning trainer Gerald Bennett.  “He has good quickness out of the gate and we knew that would be important.  He beat a good group of horses today.  We will see how he comes out of this race and give him about a month off before we look to the future.”

Claimed for $25,000 out of a maiden victory earlier this year at Tampa Bay Downs, Fast Flying Rumor was making his turf debut in the Select Stakes.  The 3-year-old gelding by West Acre from the Silver Deputy mare Silver Scandal has now won three of his nine starts.
