Super Ninety Nine, the colt who won the 2013 running of the Grade 3 Southwest Stakes at Oaklawn Park, has been retired and will stand at Country Life Farm in Bel Air, MD, it was announced.

Super Ninety Nine won three of eight career starts, placed in two others, and earned $378,260 in his career.  While the Southwest was his only stakes score, he also placed in two other graded events, the 2012 Grade 3 Hollywood Prevue and last year’s Grade 1 Santa Anita Derby.  Trained by Bob Baffert for Tanma Corporation, Super Ninety Nine made just one start this year, finishing fourth in an allowance at Santa Anita in June.

Super Ninety Nine is by Pulpit out of the unraced Unbridled’s Song mare Exogenetic.  He is a half-brother to the stakes winner Elusive Horizon (by Elusive Quality).

Co-owned by Spendthrift Farm, Super Ninety Nine will stand for $4,000 live foal and will be a part of Spendthrift’s Share the Upside program, which allows breeders to earn a lifetime breeding right if they breed to him for $5,000 annually in each of his first two years.
