There’s one stake on tap at Saratoga today, and one Midlantic-bred to run in it.
The John’s Call Stakes is a 1 5/8 mile turf event for three-year-olds and up that have not won a graded stake on the turf this year. Graham Motion trainee Holiday Star is the lone Midlantic-bred in the race and is 6-1 on the morning line. The Pennsylvania-bred son of Harlan’s Holiday-Spring Star, by Deputy Minister has won three of 10 career starts for owner George Strawbridge’s Augustin Stable. Strawbridge, also the breeder, saw his charge earn the best stake result of his career in Delaware Park’s 1 1/2 mile Cape Henlopen Stakes last out. Edgar Prado will ride.
