Delaware Park picks and analysis: August 14, 2026

  • CARRYOVERS: None
  • POST TIME: 12:20 P.M.
  • NUMBER OF RACES: 9

RACE 1: 5-4-6-1

Optional maiden claiming 2yos go 5 1/2 furlongs with a lot of ways to go… #5 Walt’s Notion is a Great Notion colt who’s a half to the stakes winner Pont Aven for a barn that can win first out… #4 Baru has the experience edge, finished well ahead of next out graduate Lucky Siete, who then ran well in the Dover, and should appreciate return to the main track… #6 Eclipseness’ dam won 15 races in a hard-knocking career… Preakness winner Chad Summers ships #1 Live From New York down from Saratoga; he’s from Maryland-bred Breeders’ Cup Sprint winner Aloha West’s first crop…

RACE 2: 5-7-2-3

#5 Kerness K looks to extend an eight-race win streak and was fantastic last out when destroying a Parx starter field… #7 Cyberbeast looks like speed of the speed and makes his first start in the Compton barn (18% first claim)… #2 Silver Slugger was over his head last out behind the likes of Book’em Danno and Quint’s Brew but just missed two back behind Kerness K; best puts him there…

RACE 3: 4-6-5-2

#4 Drop Shot has kept better company, and his last on turf has produced a next out winner; appropriate drop should get the job done… #6 Run Aaron Run hasn’t run badly on dirt, but connex have been itching to get him on the lawn; dam was stakes-placed on turf… #5 Skullduggery ran a good one in latest when setting a sharp pace and staying on despite drifting well out into the middle of the track in the lane…

RACE 4: 9-2-6-1

#9 Miss Interpatation has two firsts and a second in four recent tries versus similar and last out just couldn’t quite get by; may get a bit more help from the pace this time, though we wouldn’t mind if she were a bit closer to the rail… #2 Always Forward destroyed $8k claimers last out for a trainer who wins at a 16% clip with last-out winners… #6 Classic Ballad gamely fended off Miss Interpatation last out when drifting out to mid-track; controlling the pace may be trickier… #1 Perugia will get bet off that big effort in latest, so why hesitate? Her three worst outings are her three longest…

RACE 5: 4-8-1-6

We’ll go Upset Special with #4 Holy Brick ‘cuz…why not? #8 Fahnee probably sits an ideal trip just off the speed… #1 Midsummer Mo was beaten fave in latest when she really didn’t go on after reaching the gap; sure wish she were drawn farther out today…

RACE 6: 4-5-3-8

Two-year-old maidens square off, and you’ll want to keep an eye on the toteboard to help you figure out, for example, which of two well-bred De Paz firsters — #2 First Sergeant or #8 Venturous — you’ll want on the ticket; the barn has won with three of its last four debut 2yos… #5 Soul Band is one of the many Stidham-Godolphin horses we see, this one by Ghostzapper and from the female family of $7.6 million earner Mystic Guide… #4 Mad Eye’s Honor was brave in finishing strongly to just miss on debut, and winner Tatters came back to win the Dover by DQ… #3 Sound Check rallied alongside Mad Eye’s Honor in his debut but was slightly outquicked by that rival and had to alter out for room, finishing up nicely…

RACE 7: 10-12-4-7

#10 Lil Miss Perfect ran evenly against better in her debut two back, second-time Lasix today… #12 Pom Pom ran pretty well in her only prior turf try, but we’re not sold on the field she faced… #4 Sassy Sangria’s breeding has been begging for a chance on the lawn…

RACE 8: 4-6-1-2

#4 Oak Brook Lady was ultra-impressive in her debut victory, cruising up wide and in hand to take over and strolling home; could have a future… #6 Stately Girl has run some good races… #1 Luv Queen E has improved her Beyer fig in five consecutive races and likely will be on the engine early…

RACE 9: 6-4-5-2

#6 God With Us was terrible last out but has decent tries not too far back and makes first start after the Sepulveda claim… #4 Inter Miami looks like the major speed in here… #5 Win No Joke is a little slow early for the 4 1/2-furlong events she’s mostly been running in at CT and also distance-limited, so this trip might hit him right between the eyes…
