Delaware Park picks and analysis: June 24, 2026
- CARRYOVERS: None
- POST TIME: 12:20 P.M.
- NUMBER OF RACES: 9
RACE 1: 4-3-8-6
#4 Weaver wheels back on short rest after a credible debut when slugging it out on the front end without catching any breathers; though she tired late, she was still beaten just two lengths for all of it, and trainer Lynch’s charges usually run well on the infrequent occasions he brings them back in less than a week… #3 Albali ships down from trainer Jorge Delgado’s MTH base for this contest, and he has a 22% strike rate with 2yo firsters; sire Greatest Honour still looking for his first winner but only has six starters to date… #8 Bangkok Blaze is by Bustin Stones, who is very much a win-early influence, and eight of trainer Jose Corrales’ 16 2yo to debut in claiming company in recent years have finished in the money…
RACE 2: 3-2-5-4
#3 Hard Freeze gave a pretty good account of himself last out when second to Just Jo Jo, and that outing was flattered when the winner won an allowance next out… #2 Crazy Miles makes his debut for Gregg Sacco and is a half to a debut winner… #5 Ready and Able has very competitive speed figs but after 13 winless outings, it’s tough to endorse him on top…
RACE 3: 3-6-1-5
#3 Cha Cha Baby and stablemate #5 Whitten Way look to have been working together towards their debuts, and eheck out those worktabls: bullet after bullet; this one gets go-to rider Hazlewood up, and Capuano is 10-for-23 with debut 2yo in special weight company… Whitten Way is the better bred of the pair, out of the very good mare Steady N Love… #6 One Time ships from Penn National for this tilt and is a half to two first-out winners; rider Wolfsont along for the ride a good sign…#1 Aminetta was a $200,000 yearling purchase and is by top sire Twirling Candy…
RACE 4: 7-2-4-6
#7 Midsummer Mo has made only one start in the last 11 months, and that one, on the synthetic at Woodbine, was poor, and now she shows up here in a new barn for her first try in three months; but spin back three starts to her most recent turf outing, and it wasn’t bad at all and came against better in a race that produced three next-out winners; if she can return to that, she’ll win here, but demand value… Trainer Mike Gorham tried to get #2 Golden Sovereign on the grass last time out but got a win regardless when the race came off the turf; he then entered and scratched her against better and now lands in this spot; sire Vekoma can get you a turfer, and this one’s granddam was a graded stakes winner on the lawn… #4 Queen Wilhelmina was supposed to win last out when dropped down to this level and sent off at 3-5 but had a bit of troubled trip and just missed and now cuts back to a sprint distance…
RACE 5: 8-4-6-2
#8 Izzy’s Rock Star prevailed to graduate last out against $16,000 maidens, wearing down the favorite in a long duel; now dropping down in claiming price and well spotted to make it two straight… #4 Little Carley is a long time (and a couple trainers) removed from her best work, but last time out, for the first time in forever, she showed some of the good early speed she’d had previously, so maybe she’s sitting on improved efforts… Her lack of early speed is certainly a concern, but #6 Campaign Mischief finds the easiest group she’s seen here…
RACE 6: 6-1-7-8
#6 Ejtimaa’s late rally just missed last out in a second-level allowance at Saratoga, and he sure has been keeping good company of late, finishing ahead of the G1-placed Intellect last out after having been competitive with stakes winner Reagan’s Wit and G3-placed Mesero in recent tries; this isn’t an easy spot, but it’s not quite as tough as that… #1 Magical Ways bounded away eagerly last out versus similar to improve to 2-for-3 in the Ness barn… Didn’t love the trip #7 Eldest Son got two back when out wide between horses, and last out he wasn’t quite at the winner’s level in the Monmouth Stakes, but no shame there: that was multiple Grade 1 winner Program Trading; class relief aids the cause…
RACE 7: 6-2-3-1
#6 Collection Day sat a good trip and narrowly prevailed at this level last time out and could get another good trip with a contested pace likely; Simone barn having a good meet… #2 The Best Distance couldn’t go with a runaway winner last out at Parx going 1 3/16 miles but cuts back to a more typical distance and likely sits one-two in the early going; in good form now and reunited with Ho, who won aboard him twice… #3 Striking Sparks ran a pretty good race last out, taking heat throughout and staying on to the late stages and has finished in the trifecta in five straight…
RACE 8: 1-8-9-2
#1 Brat Pack tries allowance foes after three straight in stakes company and last out was a willing third in a slow early-fast late race that didn’t do her any favors pacewise; the pace could be lively in this one… Sneaky good first turf outing for #8 No Need to Ask, who set a rapid pace against lesser before tiring in late stages… #9 Birdie Rose makes her third start off the bench and arrives off a win against starter rivals; will likely look for a stalk-and-pounce trip…
RACE 9: 6-4-2-1
#6 Compatriot is a super-well-bred son of Curlin who arrives here no doubt older than his connections had hoped for a debut (now 4) and minus equipment they surely would have liked to keep (he’s gelded) but for a barn that can win first out in a field full of questions… #4 Stogie Joe is another debut runner for the low-profile Arce barn but attracts leading pilot Paco Lopez; this one’s a half to $700k earner Wait for It… #2 Lexington Pike appears the better of the two here that have raced…
