Sent off at 1-5, Shane’s Wonder broke sharply from the rail under Eliseo Ruiz and immediately took control, carving out honest fractions of :22.11 and :45.29 while pressed by the filly Presenceisapresent.
Though the lead was just a half-length as the field turned for home, Shane’s Wonder always had more in reserve.

Asked for run at the top of the lane, the Alfredo Velazquez trainee quickly shook clear, opening up daylight with minimal urging. He crossed the wire 4 1/4 lengths in front, geared down late while stopping the clock in 1:10.49 for six furlongs over a fast track.
Gold in My Hands rallied along the inside to secure second, 2 1/4 lengths ahead of Connor’s Crew, who finished evenly after a wide trip. Early pace presence Presenceisapresent weakened to fourth.
Capos Sugar Kane, Eake, and The Beast Master were scratched. Shane’s Wonder paid $2.40 to win, with the exacta returning $3.80 for a one-dollar wager.
Shane’s Wonder, now 3-for-3, has earned $111,000. He is a homebred for Uptowncharlybrown Stud LLC.
Trainer Butch Reid swept the day’s last two stakes, both for Pennsyvlania-breds.
In the Unique Bella for older fillies and mares, Carmelina stalked the pace of stablemate Disco Ebo, took over at the head of the lane, and drew away to win by 3 ½ lengths in 1:10.30 under jockey Paco Lopez.
Owned by LC Racing LLC, Carmelina won this contest for the second consecutive year and now owns nine wins and $570,260 in earnings from 22 starts.
In the Page McKenney Handicap for three-year-olds and up, Reid’s Ninetyprcentmaddie rallied from off the pace to reel in favored Twisted Ride in late stages to win by a length in 1:09.78 for six furlongs. Paco Lopez was in the irons.
Also owned by LC Racing, Ninetyprcentmaddie has seven wins and more than $700,000 banked from 32 starts.
