LRL: Meet the Wide Country field
Pair of stakes winners top field
The companion to the Miracle Wood, the seven-furlong, $100,000 Wide Country Stakes for three-year-old fillies has drawn a compact field of five.
Despite the small field, though, there is some quality to the group. Two of the five are prior stakes winners and two others have yet to taste defeat.

Here’s the field:
- Momaxie — Owner: Alex Igelman & Pan Am Racing | Trainer: Jose Corrales | Jockey: A. Chavez
Undefeated filly who won both starts over wet tracks, including a mile allowance last out. Still untested on fast dirt but has shown upside in a pair of dominant wins, one on the front end and one rallying from mid-flight.. - Velocity Girl — Owner: Scarlet Oak Racing | Trainer: Madison F. Meyers | Jockey: Y. O. Ortiz
Improving speed type who wired maidens going a mile in her latest. Needs another forward move but has tactical pace to stay involved early. - Law School — Owner: Super C Racing Inc & Jagger Inc | Trainer: Jamie Ness | Jockey: Y. Hazlewood
Proven stakes winner with three victories and strong figures. Hasn’t raced since winning the Parx Future Stars Fillies Division by seven lengths Dec. 30, but her tactical speed and consistency make her a major player if she fires fresh. - Peach Tie — Owner: Estate of Brereton C. Jones | Trainer: Brittany Russell | Jockey: S. Russell
Ultra-consistent filly with four wins from five starts, including an easy score in the Gin Talking at this distance. Professional running style and strong barn make her a top contender to remain undefeated on dirt. - Strike a Rose — Owner: Jeremiah C. Englehart & Christophe Meyer | Trainer: Jeremiah C. Englehart | Jockey: R. Gutierrez
Debut winner who rallied smartly to score in maiden optional claimer at Aqueduct. She’ll need to take a step forward but that seems entirely plausible.
