Stakes winners Overnight Pow Wow, Miss Harriett, and Juba’s Parade, along with the stakes-placed Happy Clouds, headline Friday’s Charles Town feature. The seven-furlong, $36,200 open allowance contest for fillies and mares is carded as the eighth on a nine-race program, and post time for the card is an earlier-than-usual 5:00 p.m to beat the cold.

A three-time stakes winner at age 3 in 2024, Overnight Pow Wow returns as one of the most accomplished mares in the field. She is 10-for-17 over her home strip and arrives off a local allowance win over next-out Laurel allowance winner In My Memories and the aforementioned Juba’s Parade. She’ll make her second start after a two-month break for trainer Cynthia McKee and rider Reshawn Latchman as the even-money favorite.

Three-time stakes winner Miss Harriett adds further depth to the lineup. The Brandon McFarlane trainee did not run well last out but has plenty of back class, makes her third start of the form cycle, and has attracted the services of top local pilot Arnaldo Bocachica. Look for her to be forwardly placed in a race that could have a lively pace.

Juba’s Parade is another stakes-winning mare with proven local form. She typically does her best work from just off the pace and can grind her way into contention through the lane. A solid tempo up front, which seems likely with Miss Harriett and Overnight Pow Wow signed on, would enhance her chances of making a late impact.

Happy Clouds makes her first start of the season following a 2025 campaign in which she placed in a pair of stakes. The Ryan Gillespie trainee has won twice in six local outings but arrives on a 13-race losing streak.

With several proven stakes performers dropping into an allowance spot, Friday’s Charles Town feature shapes up as a good test for some of the better local distaff runners.
