Saturday’s card at Laurel Park featured a pair of historic races for juveniles, the Laurel Futurity and, for fillies, the Selima Stakes.

In the Futurity, Proton, an Astern gelding trained by Graham Motion, held off Jutland to win by a length under jockey Jorge Ruiz to improve to 2-for-2 in his young career. Parkes, off at 22-1, finished third.

One race later, Ultimate Love, a Curlin filly trained by Mike Trombetta, cruised to a four-length win in the Selima under jockey Jorge Ruiz, with Celebrity Warrior a distant second and Sweet Little Lila along for third. Ultimate Love is now 3-for-3 in her career.
