Mid-Atlantic three stars: October 19, 2026

Plenty of racing action took place throughout the Mid-Atlantic this past week.

Here’s a look at the “three stars” of each track:

REGION’S BEST

FIRST STAR: MAIDA. On Saturday at Delaware Park, the Endine Stakes emerged from a 14-year dormancy, as a field of ten fillies and mares traveled six furlongs on the sloppy main track. Maida earned her third stakes win of the year in the Endine, winning by two lengths as the 9-10 favorite. She pressed the pace four-wide, while Cash Call, Mystic Lake, and For the Ladies battled for the early lead from her inside. Mystic Lake took command in the stretch, but Maida worked her way past and pulled clear late, covering the distance in 1:11.76. Mystic Lake held second, while Icona Mama rallied from last and got up for third. The winner’s now 6-for-9 lifetime, having previously taken last year’s Weather Vane Stakes and this year’s Alma North Stakes and Honorable Miss Stakes. She’s owned by Goodfella’s LLC, trained by Brittany Russell, and ridden by Sheldon Russell.

SECOND STAR: QUINT’S BREW. Another Mid-Atlantic based star picked up a stakes win at Delaware on Saturday, as Quint’s Brew prevailed in the Wilmington Stakes. In his first start since finishing second to Book ’em Danno in the Mr. Prospector Stakes at Monmouth Park in July, Quint’s Brew drafted towards the back of the pack in the early stages, as Chipotle, Scorching, and J J Zo Zo dueled for command. Forest Boyce angled Quint’s Brew towards the center of the track at the top of the stretch, and the gelding responded with a gutsy rally. He outkicked Boardwalk Jack and Fire Pit to win by a neck as the 11-10 favorite. This is his fifth stakes win of the season and second at Delaware, following the Alapocas Run Stakes in June, and he’s now 9-for-16 lifetime with career earnings of $731,740. He was bred in Maryland by Paul Berube, Karen Linnell, and Spinnaker Hill Farm and is by Country Life Farm stallion Mosler. He’s owned by Berube, Linnell, and Heather Hunter, and trained by Ned Allard.

THIRD STAR: LADY ANNABELLE. Parx hosted a stakes race of their own on Tuesday. Pennsylvania-sired sprinters ran seven furlongs, and Lady Annabelle proved the fastest, winning by 1 3/4 lengths. She pressed Nature’s Candy on the pace in the early stages, then wore down that rival in the last eighth for her seventh consecutive victory. She ran the distance over a fast track in 1:23.76 with Silvestre Gonzalez up. She was bred by Luana Johnson and is by Johnson’s stallion Golddigger’s Boy. Ernesto Padilla-Preciado, who claimed the 6-year-old mare for $7,500 on March 11, is the winning owner and trainer.

LAUREL PARK

FIRST STAR: ALANI. Set a pressured pace and pulled away in the stretch to capture a third-level allowance sprint on Sunday.

SECOND STAR: LINDA ALBERT. Earned her 750th career training win on Friday, sending War Report to victory in the finale.

THIRD STAR: CHANGE MY WORLD. Rallied from last and won a second-level allowance sprint in a 17-1 upset earlier on the Sunday card

CHARLES TOWN

FIRST STAR: MISS MENETES. Made the early lead and drew away in the stretch for a 3 1/2-length victory in a second-level allowance dash on Thursday.

SECOND STAR: YOUTHFUL ENERGY. Set the pace, opened up on the second turn, and held clear in a West Virginia-bred non-winners of four allowance route on Thursday.

THIRD STAR: CHASING SUNSETS. Fended off challenges for a gate-to-wire non-winners of three allowance sprint win on Saturday.

DELAWARE PARK

FIRST STAR: MAIDA. Continued her strong 4-year-old season with her Endine victory.

SECOND STAR: QUINT’S BREW. He’s quietly accumulated a bevy of stakes wins this year in a potential-fulling campaign.

THIRD STAR: LA HOULIGAN. Led all the way in a starter allowance route on Thursday for his third win of the year.

PARX RACING

FIRST STAR: LADY ANNABELLE. She’s become one of the best stories of the Parx season, which continued in her Commonwealth Sire Stakes win.

SECOND STAR: CONCORD BRIDGE. A recent arrival from California, he rallied between horses and worked his way past his embattled stablemate, Whisper Roar, to capture a first-level allowance sprint on Monday.

THIRD STAR: NANCY MADE MY DAY. Came up the inside for his fifth victory of the year in a starter optional claiming sprint on Tuesday.
