Trainer Bruce Kravets nets 4,000th win
Now 18th all-time by wins
Bruce Kravets reached the winner’s circle for the 4,000th time Thursday at Penn National, and three generations of his family were there to share it.
The 71-year-old trainer hit the milestone when Five Dreams ($8.40) held off favored Backside Buzz by three-quarters of a length in the evening’s fourth race. Joining Kravets in the winner’s circle were his wife Lisa, son Justin, and 8-year-old granddaughter Bailey.
Five Dreams, an 8-year-old Cinco Charlie gelding owned by Two Ten Twelve Triple T Racing, supplied the landmark victory in a $16,000 claiming race with a $22,000 purse. With Ricardo Chiappe aboard, he covered six furlongs over a fast track in 1:09.39.

The winner stalked Panagiotis through early fractions of 22.23 and 44.96 seconds, challenged at the quarter pole, and took command before holding off Backside Buzz’s late bid. Kravets also saddled third-place finisher Brother Rice, who rallied wide under Yabriel Ramos.
And the trainer added another horse to his barn in the process: Kravets claimed runner-up Backside Buzz for Stevark Stable, Inc. and Randy Rentz.
The victory brought Kravets’ career record to 4,000 wins from 25,298 starts, with 3,823 seconds, 3,555 thirds, and $38,737,770 in purse earnings. His runners have won nearly 16 percent of their starts.
This year, Kravets has recorded 70 wins, 70 seconds, and 84 thirds from 489 starts, earning $1,555,022.
Though he has not won a graded stake, among the standouts in his barn have been multiple stakes winner Nimitz Class, a $700,000 earner; Doctor Abbie, who made almost $350,000 while in Kravets’ care; and the hard-hitting claimer Eldarion, who earned more than $200,000 for him.
Kravets is 18th all-time in training wins.
