Delaware Park picks and analysis: August 20, 2026

  • CARRYOVERS: None
  • POST TIME: 12:20 P.M.
  • NUMBER OF RACES: 9

RACE 1: 3-2-5-1

It’s a pretty evenly matched group among the top four or so, so you may want to hunt value a bit, which we’re not really doing with #3 Slobberknocker, who was beaten favorite last out behind $400,000 Curlin colt Objection; this one was also bested by #5 No More Kings, who’s here and obviously live but is also still a maiden after 10 tries… #2 Where’s Your Boom makes his first start in the Deiter barn and first in six months, so it wouldn’t be a shock if he needed a race or two…

RACE 2: 2-5-7-6

#2 Gogo Glam showed blazing speed on debut and while no match for the winner was clear of the rest; looks like a handful in this spot… #5 G G’s Treasure is out of 15-time winner and multiple stakes winner Galiana… #7 Meatballsforaries caught a tough group last out when running behind a pair of Mac Robertson trainees who both won next out; drop to $25,000 level should help…

RACE 3

If on turf: 1-6-11-10

If on dirt: 15-9-7-2

RACE 4: 5-8-2-6

#5 Westbound Cat didn’t show much when debuting in special weight company, but trainer Capuano is 4-for-6 when dropping 2-year-olds into the maiden claiming ranks for the first time… #8 Bearing Witness was reluctant to load but gave willing chase in his debut, holding second in a race that was nearly a second faster than a special weight event later on the card; Snowhomish, the winner, came back to be first past the post in the Dover Stakes next out (but DQed to second)… #2 Squared Circle drops to his lowest level yet for a Bailon barn having a strong meet…

RACE 5

If on turf: 3-7-8-16

If on dirt: 4-18-5-9

RACE 6: 3-5-7-1

#3 Special Ops has run only once since a huge allowance outing at Oaklawn when beaten a half-length by Two Seven O, who has since won two stakes races; best wins here… #5 Sioux Empire gets back to dirt and to sprinting in first in two months; likely to be running late… #7 Intogage won at first asking and didn’t run poorly last out when third at Penn…

RACE 7

If on turf: 1-3-2-6

If on dirt: 6-10-8-9

RACE 8: 9-7-5-3

#9 Profound has been first or second in four straight starts, including two wins in a row; the favorite from his latest came back to be a good third in a Saratoga allowance next out, and this one could get a good trip off the pace… #7 Timeless Victory has run poorly in two starts in the Servis barn, but there’s some talent in there somewhere; connex liked him enough to give him a crack in the Florida Derby… #5 Magical Ways has won four straight and was brave in forging between rivals in latest…

RACE 9: 7-9-5-3

#7 Better Day is the only runner here with demonstrated early foot and stayed on nicely last out; might get away with an easy lead in this spot… #9 Scamp makes his debut is the first foal out of a Great Notion mare who won her only start… #5 Veneto returns to action for the first time in over a year and has a bunch of starts that would win here…
