Delaware Park picks and analysis: July 16, 2026

  • CARRYOVERS: None
  • POST TIME: 10:20 A.M.
  • NUMBER OF RACES: 9

RACE 1: 1-5-2-7

#1 Great Destiny looked like a winner in upper stretch in her debut but then was knocked sideways by a rival and had to settle for third; big shot to graduate here… #5 Siena Belle is by top sire (and win-early influence) Vekoma, and trainer George Weaver is 3-for-3 at Delaware Park the last five years… #2 Maxie’s Munny is a daughter of Maxfield (18% with 2yo firsters) bred on a similar cross to rocket ship 3yo Englishman…

RACE 2: 3-2-1-6

#3 Tatters has been training forwardly for Matz, who can win first out; sire Girvin’s debut juveniles win at a 19% clip… #2 Brisk Alley packed it in in the final furlong of his debut, but that was a pretty good try all in all and a good place to build from… #1 No No Milo debuts for veteran trainer Ned Allard and has been training well enough…

RACE 3

TURF: 1-9-3-7

DIRT: 3-12-2-13

RACE 4: 1-4-2-5

#1 Paralegal looks like speed of the speed in this nickel claimer and exits a win in a race that’s produced a next-out winner and the show horse, Federal Exchange, recently won for just the third time in 72 starts… #4 Speedy Alex rallied smartly last out when shortened up from route distances to a short sprint… #2 The Wolfman is a hard-trying veteran and winner of a dozen races but hasn’t run since December; shouldn’t be too far off the lead…

RACE 5

TURF: 1-2-6-11

DIRT: 14-10-4-3

RACE 6: 5-4-2-3

Most of this field exits the same race, and of that group, #5 Take Charge Boo is the most lightly raced and was the best finisher, having finished second (albeit well-beaten)… #4 Curlene’s Spirit is a 3-year-old facing elders for the first time; was fractious in the gate in latest and ran a middling fourth and makes her second start off the bench… #2 Tasty Time was not match for winner Tiz Purple in latest but ran a decent race and should be engaged from the jump…

RACE 7

TURF: 2-3-11-4

DIRT: 8-5-2-10

RACE 8: 5-1-3-2

#5 Chelsea Wall just missed in latest when her late rally fell just short of 3-2 favorite Golden Eib Mircrphn as that rival herded her far out into the middle of the track… #1 Braquet disappointed in latest when third in the same race that Chelsea Wall exits, but prior form had been very good when second behind hard hitters like Peridot Pendant and Foxy Junior… #3 Glows In the Dark enters with back-to-back wins but both going six furlongs; has won around two turns so it’s not beyond her scope, but the suspicious is she may be a bit better going short than long…

RACE 9: 4-6-5-3

We’re disinclined to take short odds in this wide-open tilt… #4 Reverend Moon might be headed back towards better form; three back she ran a sneaky good race when right there until late stages against a plus group, and last time she ran ok behind Double Edge Sword, who’s been one-two in seven consecutive starters… #6 Leonids closed ’25 in good form but hasn’t raced since and switches into the Gerlach barn; may do better going a bit farther than this six furlongs… #5 Laddie Dance enters off a win…
