Laurel Park cancels Feb. 8 card
Frigid temps spike Saturday and Sunday cards
In the face of brutal winter weather, Laurel Park has canceled its live racing card for Sunday, Feb. 8. The track previously had canceled its Saturday card, making Friday the final racing day of the week.
Saturday’s projected high temperature is 31 degrees with blustery winds, while Sunday’s high is predicted to be just 22 degrees. The track has also canceled training for Saturday but tentatively is planning to have training on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Live racing will resume Thursday, Feb. 12 with a 12 noon first post. The card initially scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 7, will be run as drawn on Thursday.
Races originally slated for Sunday will be listed as extras “throughout the next week,” according to a message to horsemen. They will be run over the weekend with the same number of horses after aa redraw provided they remain intact.
