CT: Old man Muad’dib back to winning ways

The old man did it again.
Nine-year-old Muad’dib snapped a long winless drought Friday night at Charles Town, rallying to take a $32,700 allowance optional claiming event for West Virginia-breds at 6 1/2 furlongs.
The Fiber Sonde gelding, trained by Jeff Runco for owner David M. Raim, notched his first victory since December 13, 2024, after going 0-for-10 through the 2025 season. With the win, Muad’dib improved his career record to 18 wins from 40 starts with earnings past the $1.1 million mark.

Ridden by 7-pound apprentice Warren Ebow III, Muad’dib carried just 115 pounds and settled well off the pace while racing four-wide down the backstretch. He began to pick up momentum three deep around the far turn, sustained his rally through the lane, and edged clear in the final sixteenth to score by 1 ½ lengths.
Front-running Youthinkthatsfunny, trained by Anthony Farrior and ridden by Arnaldo Bocachica, fended off a bid from 3-2 favorite Judgement Day but could not contain the winner and held second. Judgement Day, from the Tim Grams barn with Larry Reynolds aboard, tracked the leaders and finished third.
Muad’dib returned $8.80 to win, $4.00 to place, and $2.40 to show. The $1 exacta (6–3) paid $15.30.
A gray or roan gelding by Fiber Sonde out of Holy Pow Wow, Muad’dib boasts a strong pedigree as a full brother to multiple graded stakes winner Late Night Pow Wow as well as stakes winners Duncan Idaho and Overnight Pow Wow.
He showed Friday night that he still has plenty of fight left.
