Factorbella posts notable score in Regret
A year older and finally putting it all together, Factorbella broke through in a big way Sunday, cruising to a 3¼-length victory in the $100,000 Regret Stakes at Monmouth Park. The 4-year-old filly, winless in 14 starts last year, has now won two straight, both with Sonny Leon up.
The win marked trainer Tony Wilson’s first stakes victory in nearly 14 years, and his first at Monmouth since 2007.
“She’s a year older, she put on weight, she looks good and everything has been good with her lately,” Wilson said in a release. “She doesn’t like a whole lot being done to her. We’ve learned to adapt to her and she has responded.”
Factorbella, a daughter of The Factor, has finished in the money in seven consecutive starts.

Owned by Happy Tenth Stable, Factorbella sat just off the early pace before taking over and finishing the six furlongs in 1:09.64. Sent off at 7-5, she easily bested runner-up Ms. Bucchero, who led for the first half-mile, and even-money favorite St. Benedict’s Prep.
Now 3-for-25 lifetime, two of Factorbella’s wins have come at Monmouth.
“She loves Monmouth Park,” Wilson said of Factorbella. “She has always done well here so we figured we give her a shot in a stakes race since she is so sharp right now.”
Leon, who guided Rich Strike to an 80-1 upset in the 2022 Kentucky Derby, has two wins and a second in three rides on Factorbella.
“I got lucky,” said Leon. “I have ridden her the past three times and she now has two wins and a second. I only have known her when she has been good.”
Wilson, a winner of 272 races in his career, last won a stake in 2011, when Deliburnsky scored in the Dave’s Friend at Laurel Park.
