Delaware Park picks and analysis: July 3, 2025
Picks and analysis for this afternoon’s card from Delaware Park:
- RACES ON CARD: 8
- CARRYOVERS: None
- POST TIME: 12:35 p.m.
RACE 1
7. Knockanarrow | Trainer Pecoraro has a good record with first-time starters, this one a first foal out of a winless mare; young sire Lexitonian has just 3 starters to date |
6. Complication | Showed some speed before dropping away in debut and wasn’t really persevered with; gaudy ROI for trainer-jock combo, and drop from special weight company should aid the cause |
4. Majestic Blue | Seems to have outworked his stablemate on two occasions; trainer Ashby has a positive ROI with first starters, and sire Blofeld’s 1sters’ win 18% of the time |
RACE 2
8. Sway’sinmydna | Troubled trip in latest when fading late but might get a better race flow to work with here; best contends |
7. Russian Hammer | Late-running sort will be picking up pieces late but his unslightly record includes an 0-for-5 ledger at the trip |
10. Aim for the Cork | Speedy sort should be part of a lively pace |
RACE 3
5. Watch Your Tone | Returns to preferred distance |
7. Extremely Gruntled | Curious to see how they’ll approach this contest; this miss has plentiful early speed in a race woefully light on it but has been running two-turn contests |
1. Bad Temper | First start in the Frock barn and has been second or third in five straight |

RACE 4 – OFF THE TURF
5. Neighbelline | Exits a productive heat, as five of the top six to run back have finished in the money next, including two winners |
3. Gilda’s Girl | Might be the best of these but concerned that this short sprint may leave her a lot to do late; had some trip troubles last out that didn’t aid the cause |
6. Dark Dutchess | Probably a cut below the top pair but has her moments |
RACE 5
1. Go Mischievous | Knicks Go filly is the first foal to race out of a 10-time winner, and Knicks Go has a winner from seven to start so far; trainer Lawrence wins 11% with debut 2yo |
2. Jumping the Gun | Yowza – a Gun Runner firster in our midst! Trainer Simoff has a strong debut record, and this is probably the most likely winner, but if the morning line is right, the odds may be a bit tough to stomach |
5. Candy Moonshine | Sire Twirling Candy is a win-early sire |
RACING NOTES
- Click here for the latest Delaware Park jockey and trainer stats…
- Seven different riders and seven different trainers won Wednesday’s seven races…
- The early Pick 5 returned just shy of $3,000, which is impressive considering that the sequence included one winning favorite and two other winners that went off at 5-2. The biggest surprise in the sequence was race one winner J Candy, who returned $21.00. Paul Luna Obregon was in the irons for owner-trainer Jose Ramirez on the first-time starter in a 2yo maiden claimer…
RACE 6 – OFF THE TURF
10. Berks | Had three-race win streak snapped in latest; should be on or near the lead early and the one they’ll need to reel in |
4. Bode’s Maker | Late-running sort was outfooted in latest and never showed a thing; return to best would suffice |
8. Daniel Sun | Recent snyth form is fine and has OK dirt tries farther down on the PPs; first in the Morris barn |
RACE 7
6. She’sarollingstone | Consistent sort enters off a win and shifts into Kravets barn having a productive meet |
4. Mad for Maddy | Likely to be main speed again, and slight cutback in distance from latest may aid the cause |
7. Arijana’s Pearl | Ran two good races in local allowance company a year ago but has been off since October; new trainer Russell can fire first off the bench |
RACE 8
6. Stormy Irish Lass | Lands in appropriate spot for third off the bench |
1. Paperback Edition | Likely speed of the speed in first try versus winners |
4. Bond’s Belle | In the money five of six at the trip |
