Picks and analysis for this afternoon’s card from Delaware Park:
- RACES ON CARD: 8
- CARRYOVERS: None
- POST TIME: 12:35 p.m.
RACE 1
6. Afterneath | Should be the controlling speed here and makes second start off the bench |
3. Mabee a Miracle | Easy winner to graduate in latest but suspect there wasn’t much behind her |
7. Bond’s Belle | Might be able to pick up some pieces on drop to bottom |
RACE 2
5. Chelsea Wall | Hottest jock-trainer combo on the grounds, and Ness wins at a 32% clip on similar drops and race timing |
3. Quit Quay | Returned to winning ways in latest, but two-turn work at LRL makes her a bit suspect here |
4. Simmering | Perhaps return to two turns will aid the cause in first in Feron barn; will bug rider Del Fabbro try to put her on the lead? |
RACE 3
10. Mizoula | Has some decent tries going longer; sire Zoustar’s offspring win at a 23% clip in turf sprints, including with 2024 Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint champ Starlust |
6. My Grey Humor | Solid turf bow; makes season debut |
4. Our Best Song | Ran OK in dirt race that’s produced three next out winners; breeding says turf might work |

RACE 4
3. Can Do | Rough outing in latest, and blinkers come off today; last has been flattered by two next out winners, one winning an allowance |
5. Rascallion | Drops to bottom and skips a condition but has been facing much better |
7. Ferociousness | Not sure where that improvement came from last out but would like to see it repeated before accepting low odds |
RACE 5
8. Unbounded Movement | Solid first outing versus winners and drawn outside others with speed |
9. Its Satisfactual | Flattened after wide bid in most recent on turf; rider Ruiz lands here rather than #5 |
3. Breezethrutime | Stepped up with a good effort |
RACING NOTES
- Today marks the first day of the meet where Delaware is on the turf…
- Jaime Rodriguez, Raul Mena, and Jorge Ruiz each won twice on Saturday., while seven different trainers were on the board. See the latest jockey and trainer stats here…
- The first stake of the meet went to R Disaster ($3.00) in a good-looking score in the Rehoboth for sprinting fillies and mares. Jorge Ruiz was up for Saffie Joseph, Jr…
RACE 6
4. Atlantis Queen | Has run in allowance and stakes company since maiden score, so should appreciate class relief today; project to get stalk and pounce trip chasing #2 |
2. Bollo de Crema | Good-looking win at first asking against a field that seems to have been credible; likely main speed |
1. Rose Gold Candy | Makes 3yo bow and gets Lasix on |
RACE 7
4. Card Trick | Disappointed in latest as the favorite after wide trip but already owns two allowance wins at Tampa and only qualifies here because of that track’s paltry purses |
9. Massif | Connex liked this one enough last year to try him at Keeneland and Aqueduct and in two stakes, including a G3 |
7. Rampagius | Lightly raced sort has upside |
RACE 8
1. Tricky River | Hoping the long vacation scares off some bettors; three from most recent ran second in their next starts; trainer Ashby can win off the bench |
2. Savi Dancer | Pretty indifferent return to action in latest, but maybe the combination of the two-year break, tough trip, and off track were too much to contend with |
3. Zippy Do Da Day | Certainly a contender but still a maiden after 15 tries makes her hard to love on top |
