David Ingordo will judge MHBA Yearling Show
The Maryland Horse Breeders Association is proud to announce renowned bloodstock agent David Ingordo will judge the 91st annual Yearling Show. Open to all yearlings eligible for Maryland-bred registration, the show will be held on Sunday, June 29 at the Maryland State Fairgrounds’ Horse Show Ring in Timonium.
Born into a racing family, Ingordo has been connected throughout his career to the who’s who of the racing world. As a teenager, he worked for Hall of Fame trainer Bobby Frankel and became his assistant trainer by 18.
After graduating from the University of Kentucky, Ingordo launched his professional career at Juddmonte and Walmac Farms before establishing his own bloodstock agency.
Two of his greatest finds as an agent are racing legends. In 2005, he selected Zenyatta for $60,000 for owners Jerry and Ann Moss at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale. The Hall of Famer, three time champion older mare and Horse of the Year won 19 of 20 starts and earned over $7.3 million.
Ingordo first saw Flightline as a youngster on the farm in early 2019, purchased him for $1 million on behalf of West Point Thoroughbreds later that summer, and followed Flightline’s Horse of the Year career in which he was an undefeated Breeders’ Cup Classic-G1 winner of $4,514,800.
The nearly endless list of top-level runners Ingordo has been involved with include such champions as Accelerate, Uncle Mo, Honor Code, Lady Eli and Stellar Wind, as well as numerous Grade 1 winners. He’s been with Lane’s End Bloodstock since the early 2000s.
Ingordo is married to one of the nation’s leading trainers, Cherie DeVaux, who sent out More Than Looks, purchased by Ingordo as a yearling, to win the 2024 Breeders’ Cup Mile-G1 for Victory Racing Partners.
Ingordo joins an esteemed list of MHBA yearling show judges that includes Hall of Fame and Triple Crown-winning trainers, as well as notable bloodstock agents. Maryland-breds to compete in the show over its history include Hall of Famer Safely Kept, Declan’s Moon, Smart Angle, Sharing, Urbane and Cathryn Sophia.
Entries for this year’s show close June 2 (late entries will be accepted at an increased fee).
