Laurel Park was in action for three days of live racing this past weekend, and we’re crunching the numbers on jockey and trainer stats: wins, percentage of purse earned, added wins.

Stats are year-to-date in Maryland and not meet-specific. Here are the numbers:

JOCKEY TOP 10 WINS

Out-of-town jocks did well at Pimlico, with Flavien Prat winning five times to lead all riders, while Irad Ortiz tied for second with four… The top local riders were Jaime Rodriguez and Yedsit Hazlewood, with four wins apiece… Paco Lopez, Sheldon Russell, Tyler Conner, and Jean Briceno were among those with three… The top 10 remain virtually unchanged, with only the order of the riders slightly modified…

JOCKEY TOP 10 PERCENTAGE OF PURSE EARNED

Eliseo Ruiz has quietly compiled a 5-for-10 mark at Laurel and Pimlico and leads in percentage of purse earned, narrowly edging Sheldon Russell, who went 3-for-13 at Pimlico… Ismerio Villalobos, who was 2-for-13 at Pimlico, is the only new name on the top 10 list…

JOCKEY TOP 10 BY ADDED WINS

With three wins at Pimlico, Jean Briceno moved into second in added wins, comparing a rider’s actual wins to what the odds of his or her runners would have predicted… Raul Mena retains the top spot… Eliseo Ruiz and Tyler Conner are new to the top 10, with Conner having gone 3-for-5 at Old Hilltop… The range of all riders is 6.89 to (-9.70)…

TRAINERS TOP 10 BY WINS

Brittany Russell won four times at Pimlico, while Jamie Ness won three, and they remain well ahead of all other trainers for wins in Maryland this year… John Robb won once during the Pimlico stand to snap a tie with Claudio Gonzalez and Gary Capuano for sole possession of 10th by wins… Anthony Farrior also won three times, from 12 starters, while a bevy of trainers won two apiece…

TRAINERS TOP 10 BY PERCENTAGE OF PURSE EARNED

Brittany Russell increased her lead in percentage of purse earned with her stellar weekend… New to the top 10 this week are Mike Geralis, Kieron Magee, and Ben Feliciano; Magee went 2-for-12 at Pimlico… Eight trainers with 10 or more starts are pulling in less than five percent of available purse money…
