Wanamaker’s PA-bred catalog available

Wanamaker’s today issued the following press release:

In conjunction with the Pennsylvania Horse Breeders Association, Wanamaker’s has released their third annual Pennsylvania-Bred Sale with 33 horses catalogued. Offerings range from yearlings to broodmares in-foal, and everything in between.

Bidding will open on Sunday, January 7 at 9:00 AM ET and close on Thursday, January 11 with the first listing set to close at 5:00 PM ET. Subsequent listings will close in three-minute increments. Detailed information on the buying process can be found at wanamakers.com/buy.

Wanamaker’s past PA-bred sales have produced multiple horses of racing age who went on to out-earn their purchase price, including Dixie Cannonball, who sold for $5,500 to Mark Salvaggio and has gone on to win three races since last year’s sale.

“We are delighted by the continued enthusiastic response to our third annual PA-Bred Sale,” remarked Wanamaker’s CEO Liza Hendriks. “This sale provides an excellent platform for local owners and breeders to showcase their horses in a state with a robust program, particularly in anticipation of the upcoming PA-Sired PA-Bred Stallion Series for two-year-olds in 2024 and three-year-olds in 2025.”

Highlights of the catalogue include:

  • Eleven yearlings by Winchill, consigned by Pewter Stable. Winchill is the leading Mid-Atlantic fith crop sire and has 60% winners/starter.
  • Eight horses consigned by Steven Young, including four broodmares all in foal to Peace and Justice, two three-year-olds and two two-year-olds.
