“From the Spa” returns to keep you up-to-date on horses bred in the mid-Atlantic racing in Saratoga stakes

After three failed entries as a main track only, Maryland bred Another Broad looks to finally get her chance to run at the Spa in the Grade III Shuvee Stakes at a mile and an eighth on the dirt. Coming out of the Grade II Fleur De Lis Stakes at Churchill in late June, Another Broad should reach the gate for just the fourth time this year, and may get fortunate here with a muddy track from yesterday’s rain. This five year old mare by Include – Dynamic Deputy, by Deputy Minister has picked up all four career wins on off tracks, so if the conditions hold, her morning line odds of 15/1 are likely to drop come post time.

Another Broad is a Todd Pletcher trainee owned by Farfellow Farm Ltd and bred by Fitzhugh LLC. She has run amongst top class, frequently competing in graded stakes races and often finishing in the money. Even if Another Broad does get a leg up on her competitors with a muddy track, she will be facing a very classy and even group, leaving her as the co-longest shot on the morning line board. With aggressive rider Luis Saez in the irons however, Another Broad may see a change in her closing running style to one that is more forwardly placed, possibly changing the tactics of the others in the race. Whether or not she wins here will come down to a variety of factors, but this already accomplished mare should run well off of a layoff and add to her over $350,000 in career earnings.
