Nutshell: “Country fuzz” band The Cadillac Three will headline a Preakness kickoff concert, the Maryland Jockey Club said.

From a Maryland Jockey Club release

The Maryland Jockey Club today announced The Cadillac Three will headline a kickoff concert at Rams Head Live in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor on Saturday, May 9. The 140th running of the Preakness Stakes (G1), the middle jewel of racing’s Triple Crown, will be held at historic Pimlico Race Course the following Saturday.

The Preakness Kickoff Concert is presented for the second year by KIND snacks.

The Cadillac Three is a high-energy trio who describe their sound as “country fuzz.” Composed of three Nashville natives – Jaren Johnston (Guitar & Lead Vocals), Kelby Ray (Bass Steel Guitar, Dobro, Acoustic & Vocals) and Neil Mason (Drums, Percussion & Vocals) – all three guys have weathered wild adventures as a country group with a rockin’ edge. They have opened for acts like ZZ Top, LynyrdSkynyrd, Eric Church and the Eli Young Band. More information can be found at the band’s website.

Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 the day of show and are available here.

“The Rams Head Live event is an exciting way to kick off the 2015 Preakness Concert Series and usher in eight straight days of activities culminating with the 140th running of the Preakness,” said Maryland Jockey Club General Manager Sal Sinatra. “The Maryland Jockey Club is pleased to partner with Rams Head Live and we look forward to the Kickoff becoming a marquee event that gets people in a celebratory spirit for Preakness week.”

The Cadillac Three concert is one of three musical events during an eight-day stretch surrounding the Preakness experience. Headlining musical acts for Black-Eyed Susan Day (May 15) and Preakness Day (May 16) will be announced soon.  Additional information can be found on www.preakness.com.
