Ted Black closed fast to take the first ever Grade 1 Racing Biz Invitational, 100% Degenerates Handicapping Challenge.  Black picked Silver Max to upset Wise Dan in what became the Shadwell (off the) Turf Mile (and a sixteenth), and Silver Max did just that, grabbing an early lead and never looking back.  He paid $17 to win and $4.40 to place, and that $21.40 gave Black $36.20 on the day.

“What an honor it is to win such a prestigious event,” Black said, or would have said if anyone from The Racing Biz had bothered to interview him.

Derby Bill Watson, the leader entering the lane, fell behind then re-rallied when his last selection, Make a Decision, found a seam and rallied up the rail to win Belmont’s last race of the day.  However, the $10 Make a Decision paid left Derby Bill just $1 behind Black.

Nick Hahn rallied late into third with $21.70, and Michael Horvath, second entering the homestretch, finished fourth.
