Help Andre Ramgeet on the road to recovery

My husband Andre Ramgeet was dropped Saturday night in race 1 at Charles Town racetrack - an accident that could have been totally avoidable and was caused by careless riding, having the rail the entire race, the outside horse came down on his inside horses without regard, causing Andre to clip heels and fall. A horse then fell overtop of him after he hit the ground. Andre is now facing many mountains ahead and his future of racing is not clear right now, he has several fractures in his back, he is still hospitalized in Reston, VA and is working with nurses to try to get comfortable at least standing and walking with his new back brace. Once he is home he has several months of healing before he will be allowed to start both physical and occupational therapy. He has many future appointments for follow ups as well. Andre is not an active Jockey’s Guild member, that is how most injured riders get support. That leaves all of the financial pressure on us as a family. Andre is the father to 3 children, one with special needs. He has sat on the side lines for quite sometime, focusing on his children and family. He never puts himself first, always us, I’m calling on peers and the public to now help him. On top of the medical bills, he has lost his means of income and that takes care of our entire household. I’m going to step up in any way I can to help relieve pressure from him so he can focus on healing.
