In the second of our series previewing the Fasig-Tipton sale, we’ve compiled a list of the sale’s “running dams”: those mares who were stakes winners or stakes-placed themselves, or who have produced horses who won or placed in stakes.  That list appears to the right, including the name of the dam and the hip of the horse for sale.  It includes only those hips foaled in Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia.

Herewith, some highlights from the list:

  • HIP 6 is a filly by Lion Hearted out of Red Valentine, by Dehere… an awfully nice female family that includes current star Judy the Beauty and, farther back, G1 winner In the Gold… Hip 6 is a half to multiple stake winner Glib.
  • HIP 29 is a filly by Smarty Jones out of Shootforthestars by Seattle Slew… Shootforthestars’ offspring include eight winners, among them G1 winner Centralintelligence, who’s a full sibling to Hip 29, and three other stakes-placed runners… also the female family, farther back, of local sire Fantasticat
  • HIP 31 is a colt by Birdstone out of Silent Greeting, by Secret Hello… Eight winners for Silent Greeting, including two local stakes winners
  • HIP 46 is a filly by Scipion out of Sonata, by Polish Precedent… she’s produced eight winners, including Regal Solo, who’s earned nearly a half-million dollars, and won two different Maryland Million races and placed in a third… distinguished female family.
  • HIP 63 is a colt by Not for Love out of Sweet Annuity, by Polish Precedent… Five-time stake winner Sweet Annuity is half to three other stakes winners, including Russell Road, one of the best WV-breds ever… has produced one winner to date.
  • HIP 78 is a gelding by Hey Chub out of Thatholeinmypocket, by Pure Prize… Unraced Thatholeinmypocket has produced two to race, both stake winners of more than $200,000.
  • HIP 119 is a colt by Quality Road out of What Do I Do, by Two Smart… What Do I Do has produced, among her five offspring, two stakes winners and a third horse that was stakes placed, all three of which earned north of $100,000.
  • HIP 136 is a filly by Langfuhr out of Almost Paradise, by Allen’s Prospect… Almost Paradise’s three offspring are all winners, including stakes winner Come Fly Away… Stakes-winning second dam Muffies Muffin produced four more stakes winners, notably G2 winner Wicapi… female family of onetime local star and Preakness entrant Water Cannon.
  • HIP 143 is a filly by Old Fashioned out of Anofficerandalady, by Officer… First foal for multiple stakes winning dam whose siblings include three stakes winners, one of which was also a stakes producer.
  • HIP 149 is a colt by Flatter out of Ashby Inn, by Feel the Power… Ashby Inn’s five winners include hard hitter Julie B., a multiple stakes winner of more than $890,000.
  • HIP 185 is a colt by Sharp Humor out of Cecilia’s Crown, by Chief’s Crown… colt is a full to stake winner Princess Cecilia, who won five of eight career starts, and a half to G3-placed Capital Attraction and four other winners.
  • HIP 205 is a colt by Luftikus out of Deed I Do, by Alydeed… this colt is a half to six winners, including 2013 G2 Virginia Derby hero War Dancer, and Deed I Do won over $200,000 while being G2 placed.
  • HIP 242 is a colt by Lion Hearted out of Follow Your Bliss, by Thunder Gulch… colt is a half to three winners, including multiple G3 winner Daddy Nose Best with a solid female family behind it.

  • HIP 310 is a colt by Temple City out of Love Me Twice, by Not for Love… Two winners from two racers for Love Me Twice, and one of those is Action Andy, whose half-million in earnings include a win in the 2012 De Francis Dash, plus other local stars from the female family.
