WVBC 2018 Name that Foal Contest rules
1. ELIGIBILITY
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. The WVBC 2018 Name that Foal Contest ("Contest") is a game of skill, with a chance component, sponsored by West Virginia Breeders Classics Ltd. (WVBC) and open to legal residents of the United States and Canada, 21 years of age or older. Employees, officers, directors, shareholders, agents, representatives, and immediate family members of West Virginia Breeders Classics, The Racing Biz, America’s Best Racing, and their parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries, and advertising and promotion agencies, are not eligible to win prizes. CONTEST IS LIMITED TO PEOPLE WHO HAVE ACTIVE E-MAIL ADDRESSES DURING THEIR PARTICIPATION IN THE CONTEST. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED OR RESTRICTED BY LAW.
2. HOW TO ENTER
Entry into the Contest is FREE. All entries for the Contest must be received by midnight September 24, 2018. All entries become the exclusive property of West Virginia Breeders Classics Ltd..
You can enter the Contest via computer by filling out the online registration form. Once you have submitted the completed registration form, WVBC will confirm your entry via electronic communication. Each individual player may submit up to three names, which must be on one entry form. No player may enter more than once.
Contest entries will be disqualified at the sole discretion of WVBC if you attempt (i) to enter the Contest through any means other than those outlined in these Rules; or, (ii) to disrupt the Contest or circumvent the terms and conditions of these Official Rules. And, if either of the above occurs, WVBC reserves the right to remedy any such action, disruption, or circumvention in a manner, determined solely by WVBC, that is fair and equitable to Contest participants.
All contestants agree to receive future Contest announcements and other communications from WVBC, TheRacingBiz.com, and America’s Best Racing as a condition of entering.
3. DURATION
The contest will be open from the time these rules and the entry form are posted until September 24, 2018.
4. HOW TO PLAY
Each player must fill out the entry form with one or more -- up to a maximum of three -- proposed names for the foal depicted on the online contest page. No player may submit more than one entry form.
Each name must meet all requirements set forth by The Jockey Club for official registration. Those requirements may be found at https://www.registry.jockeyclub.com/registry.cfm?page=tjcRuleBook#six and include (but are not limited to) requiring that each name:
WVBC personnel and consultants will determine a list of 10 finalists based on which the judges deem best for a Thoroughbred racehorse, including cleverness in adapting the foal’s name based on its parents’ names, color and/or markings, and other factors they deem advisable. Those finalists will be forwarded to our expert panel of judges to make a final selection. That selection will be submitted to The Jockey Club as the foal’s proposed name.
6. PRIZES AND WINNER
The winner will be the person who chose the name ultimately selected by the expert panel as the best name. If multiple people chose the winning name, the grand prize winner will be chosen from that group of people via a random draw conducted by WVBC.
The winner will have his or her choice of one of two prizes:
Winners of any Contest prizes are responsible for any expenses related to the prize, including any applicable tax, insurance, etc. The Winner will be notified in an email within 10 days of the completion of the contest. The Winner will be announced on the the WVBC.com website and in an email to all registered players within 10 days of the contest. The Contest is a game of skill, with a chance component. Odds of winning are determined by the number of valid entries received and by the skill of the individual contestants. By entering, each entrant agrees to be bound by the Official Rules and grants West Virginia Breeders Classics Ltd. the right to use his/her name, voice, picture and likeness, without compensation, for the purpose of publicizing his/her winning and acceptance of prize. Entrants release West Virginia Breeders Classics Ltd., their employees, directors, officers and agents, subsidiary and affiliated companies from any and all claims or liability resulting from the Contest and his/her acceptance of the prize. Noncompliance may result in an alternate winner being chosen..
7. CONDITIONS
By entering, participants agree to be bound by these complete Official Rules and the decisions of West Virginia Breeders Classics Ltd., which shall be final. All federal, state, and local laws apply.
West Virginia Breeders Classics Ltd., Contest sponsors and the employees, officers, directors, shareholders, agents, and representatives of WVBC and its parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries, and advertising, promotion and legal advisors, are not responsible for and shall not be liable for: (i) late, lost, delayed, damaged, misdirected, incomplete, illegible, or unintelligible entries; (ii) telephone, electronic, hardware, or software program, network, Internet, or computer malfunctions, failures, or difficulties; (iii) errors in transmission; (iv) any condition caused by events beyond the control of WVBC that may cause the Contest to be disrupted, corrupted, or canceled; (v) any injuries, losses, or damages of any kind caused by a prize or resulting from acceptance, possession, or use of a prize, or from participation in the Contest; or (vi) any printing or typographical errors in any materials associated with the Contest.
WVBC may prohibit any player from participating in the Contest, if at the sole discretion of WVBC, a player repeatedly shows a disregard for these Rules, or acts (1) in an unsportsmanlike manner; (2) with an intent to annoy, abuse, threaten, or harass any other player or WVBC representative; or (3) in any other disruptive manner. WVBC may terminate the Contest early at its own discretion; provided that all prizes will still be awarded.
Computer entries will be deemed to have been submitted by the authorized account holder of the e-mail address submitted at the time of entry. "Authorized account holder" is defined as the natural person who is assigned to an e-mail address by an Internet access provider, online service provider, or other organization (e.g., business, educational institution, etc.) that is responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address.
West Virginia Breeders Classics Ltd. reserves the right to alter or modify these rules, at its sole discretion, at any time and in any manner it chooses.
