In this $16,000 claiming race for N3L at a mile and 70 yards on the turf, #6 Prince of Caps (6-1) rallied mildly at Pimlico in last. He should improve in second back after a long break. He seems well spotted in today’s event. #12 Clever Fellow (10-1) won his last at Tampa, and if he can maintain that form he could be a factor today. #11 Borgobythesea (8-1) led a long way before failing in last in first try since February. He’ll try to take them all the way, and any improvement might be enough. #1 Ready Reward (12-1) ran evenly against better in season bow at Pimlico.
Race #6 Picks: 4-5-2-6
In this $42,000 allowance race for N2L at one mile, #4 Raise a Speights (4-1) has shown significant improvement in each of his races. Now trying a route for the first time and trainer Brittany Russell does well when stretching out. It is a big condition jump from winning a maiden race to winning an allowance but we think he has a good chance to do it on his first try. We like this one on top. #5 Windcracker (7-2) is coming in from Oaklawn where he ran his lifetime best Beyer in last. He will be with the leaders if he repeats that race. #2 Life is a Banquet (5-2) This frontrunner was running well at Delta Downs before showing brief speed and folding at Keeneland. Perhaps he didn’t like the slop, or perhaps a mile and a sixteenth was too far, or maybe he just wasn’t good enough for a quality field. At this point the jury is still out. #6 Serifos (6-1) dominated maidens at Pimlico in his first try around two turns on the main track; it looks like he may have discovered what he likes to do.
Race #7 Picks: 8-4-10-5
Race #8 Picks: 8-3-1-2
