Race #4: Picks 2-1-5-4
In this $50,000 claiming race for 3YO- NW2 at 6 furlongs #2 Sister Supream (8-5) was making a strong move against better in the mud at Laurel last out, but stopped suddenly. It’s hard to explain what happened in that race but we are willing to give her a second chance today. #1 Mama G’s Wish (2-1) finished second to Sister Supream two back and if she can repeat that run she will be a top contender. #5 Dare Me (8-1) was facing tougher at Oaklawn but needs to return to earlier form to be competitive today. #4 Notion of Curly (3-1) won easily in the slop as the favorite at Laurel in her debut. Today we’ll see how she fares against tougher competition on a fast track.
Race #5 Picks: 5-6-9-3
Race #6 Picks: 3-6-1-2
In this $50,000 open allowance race at one mile #3 Phat Man (2-1) appears to outclass these. As a general rule I never bet against horses that have shown recent ability against graded stakes company when other horses in the race have not. Phat Man did not like the turf in last but if this 8-year-old can regain anything close to his previous form, he should win today. #6 Frosted Grace (8-1) has been inconsistent recently, but ran some big races against stiff competition at Gulfstream last year. A definite contender. #1 Commandeer (8-1) was in over his head in last two but he is coming back second time after a short layoff and it would not be a surprise if he fired and ran a big race today. #2 American Patrol (3-1) is always competitive but will have to run a lifetime best to win with this group.
Race #7 Picks: 10-9-3-5
Race #8 Picks: 1A-5-3-4
