Joe’s Selections

Race #1   Picks:   2-5-6-7

Race #2   Picks:   4-1-7-5

Race #3   Picks:   6-9-5-7

Race #4   Picks:   7-2-4-8

Race #5   Picks:   5-4-2-6

In this first-level allowance/optional claiming race for fillies and mares at one mile and 70 yards, #5 Striking Chrome (9-5) almost won at this level in last two and consistently runs speed figures in the 70s. We think she will be able to break her case of “seconditis” and get up to the wire first today. #4 Rush Hour Traffic (3-2) just missed as the favorite at this level last time in her first try at Delaware. She has enough sped to be very competitive with this group. A contender. #2 Ellarella (10-1) needed last after a seven-month break. If she can return to the form she showed in New York early in the year, she will be a contender. #6 Congratsrosy (6-1) might enjoy the class relief and should be considered.

Race #6:   Picks:   3-5-1-6

Race #7:   Picks:   1A-5-1-2B

In this first-level allowance/$75,000 optional claiming race for Juvenile fillies at 6 furlongs, #1A Mining Chrome (4-1) is part of an entry for Gerald Bennett. She raced very greenly in the White Clay Creek Stakes, but made a closing move from the rear. Now turning back to 6 furlongs but we think she won’t mind the shorter distance and will be able to compete for the win today.  #5 Boss Lady Kim (6-1) was in way over her head in the Grade 2 Adirondack Stakes at Saratoga in last. She was eased up in that race but based on her debut race she fits well with this group. She has a chance here. #1 She’s Peachy Keen (4-1) is the other half of the Bennett entry, and if he decides to send her to the gate she looks dangerous. She ran fourth in the White Clay Creek Stakes, beaten just three lengths in a game effort. #2B Buy the Best (3-1) ran an impressive 67 figure here at Delaware when graduating from the maiden ranks in last. A chance.

Race #8   Picks:   5-6-7-8
