Joe’s Selections

Race #1   Picks:   3-2-1-4

Race #2   Picks:   2-4-5-1

Race #3   Picks:   2-5-1-3

Race #4   Picks:   9-3-5-7

Race #5   Picks:   4-6-2-5

Race #6   Picks:   2-1-7-6

In this $25,000 claiming race for NW3 fillies and mares at 6 furlongs, #2 Miss Tap Dance (2-1) looks the best of this bunch.  She beat Thea’s Theme earlier in the year with a nice closing drive.  Look for Rodriguez to get her out quickly, and she should cross the wire first today. #1 Thea’s Theme (4-1) ran a 71 figure last time when she got the lead and was very game throughout. If she can repeat that race, she will be fighting for the win again.  #7 Wrapper Rule (3-1) will be chasing the early pace and if the frontrunners wear down she will be there to pick up the pieces.  She may enjoy a return to dirt. #6 She Dazzle (6-1) is coming in from Monmouth where she did flash some speed this summer. A chance if she runs her best.

Race #7   Picks:   6-8-3-5

In the $50,000 White Clay Creek Stakes for 2YO fillies at one mile, #6 Mining Chrome (10-1) ran up the rail in last to get the lead and was never challenged. She has two-turn experience and a recent bullet work. We like her on top today.  #8 Style (5-2) has run some fast route races on this grass. Trainer Arnaud Delacour must think her speed will translate to the dirt to enter her today. A contender. #3 Joyrunner (9-5) looks like a good racehorse. She won with ease in last and was not urged in deep stretch. She ran a figure of 78, which will likely be enough to beat this group if she can repeat it, and she still has room for improvement. Our only concern is that she has never run two turns which is why we don’t have her on top.  #5 Paynt by Number (10-1) is another horse with two turn experience who won easily on a wet-fast track in her debut.  If there is an off track today she might be a good play.

Race #8   Picks:   7-6-3-2
