Joe’s Selections
Race #1 Picks: 5-3-6-2
Race #2 Picks: 7-5-6-4
Race #3 Picks: 8-2-4-7
Race #4 Picks: 5-8-7-2
Race #5 Picks: 3-2-10-1
In this $16,000 starter allowance at 7 1/2 furlongs on the turf #3 Unconquered Spirit (5-2) has been very competitive in his past two tries running an 84 figure in his most recent race. This race is a little shorter than he is used to, but that should not be a problem with his early running style. #2 Centerfoldprospect (7-2) is a consistent runner who recently won a first-level allowance race at this distance. If he can repeat that race, he will be right in the mix. #10 Boat’s a Rockin (6-1) is coming in from Penn National for trainer Brandon Kulp, who is the second leading trainer at that track this year. The horse seems to be in a very good spot and has a chance today. If this race were being run on the dirt #1 First Citizen (9-2) would be a heavy favorite. He has been impressive enough on the dirt for us to give him a chance on the grass if Ness decides to go with him.
Race #6 Picks: 2-5-3-1
Race #7 Picks: 5-3-2-8
In this second-level allowance/optional claiming race for fillies and mares at five furlongs on the turf #5 Payntdembluesaway (8-5) has been away for over seven months, but she has come back from previous layoffs in good form. She was a beaten favorite when she ran fourth in the $100,000 Lightning City Stakes in her last try. If she can run that race back with this group, she will win going away. #3 Olive Kat (9-2) ran some fast turf races over the summer and always puts in a game effort. She will be laying just off the pace and looking to pounce in deep stretch if others falter. #2 Strongerthanuknow (8-1) has run some competitive turf sprints at Monmouth recently and fits well with these. A chance. #8 Beautiful Grace (3-1) was facing tougher at Laurel in last and has shown some turf ability. We are a little reluctant because this will be her third race in 28 days.
Race #8 Picks: 5-4-1-6
