Joe’s Selections

Race #1   Picks:   3-5-2-1

Race #2   Picks:   5-1-6-4

Race #3   Picks:   1-8-3-4

Race #4   Picks:   4-6-7-1

Race #5   Picks:   4-1-2-9

Race #6   Picks:   6-3-5-4

In this $40,000 first-level allowance for fillies and mares at 5 1/2 furlongs, #6 Free to Fly (6-5) looks much the best. This consistent runner has won four straight and eight-of-eleven this year with three second place finishes. She typically runs Beyer figures in the mid to high 70s, which is much better than her rivals today. Our top pick.  #3 Kashan (4-1) has run some very strong races at this level, and if she can repeat those she will be in contention today.  #5 My Best Friend (8-1) ran a 72 Beyer at Parx before being sluggish in New York in her last two tries. If she gets back to her Parx form she will compete today. Parx-leading jockey Ruben Silvera will be on top, which adds to her chances. #4 Donnybrook Girl (3-1) probably needed last after a long layoff and should run better today.

Race #7   Picks:  1-10-9-2

In the $16,000 claiming Race for NW2 at about one mile and 70 yards on the turf, #1 Ready Reward (5-1) is getting some class relief after racing with better at Colonial in last. He doesn’t have much to beat in this event, and any improvement should put him over the top.  We are putting him on top today. #10 Striking it Lucky (3-1) has run some decent races at this class level. If he runs up to his potential, he will be in the mix today.  #9 Paint Music for Me (4-1) has never won on the turf, but this Jockey-trainer combo must be respected. #2 Nicky Bear (8-1) was good on the turf in last two. If he runs those back, he could find his way into the exotics.

Race #8   Picks:   4-1A-6-5
