Joe’s Selections

Race #1   Picks:   5-1-2-4

Race #2   Picks:   6-4-5-1

Race #3   Picks:   9-6-5-3

Race #4   Picks:   2-1-3-4

Race #5   Picks:   7-4-6-14

Race #6   Picks:   5-1-2-1A

In this first-level allowance/optional claiming race at one mile #5 Singlino (7-5) tried to play “catch me if you can” against much tougher at Timonium in last. He was nipped at the wire, but with this group he will probably be able to hold on. He is our top pick.  #1 The King Cheek (9-5} ran third in the Smarty Jones Stakes in last. He consistently runs Beyer figures in the 80s and looks like another top contender in this event. #2 Skyscanner (6-1) has been running very well since being claimed by Mark Reid. If he repeats his last few races he will find his way into the exotics. The other half of the Ness entry #1A Bellarmine Hall (9-5) also looks like he has some ability and if he runs he could surprise today.

Race #7   Picks:   13-10-12-1

In this $16,000 claiming race for fillies and mares NW2 at about one mile and 70 yards on the turf #13 She So Naughty (10-1) is an also-eligible, but if she gets in she has a good shot with this big field. She has been running against much better in New York and Trainer Rob Atras may have found a good spot for her today. Even though her last race at Monmouth was terrible, we have her on top today. #10 Glossamer (7-2) will be leading early, but tends to fade late in races. Even if she can’t quite get to the wire she should be with the leaders at the end. #12 Sprite’s Lady (15-1) ran well at this level in her only turf start. Centeno is back on top today and this horse has a chance. #1 Better With Age (8-1) has run some decent races but often gets off to a very slow start. If she can out of the gate in decent shape should could make an impact.

Race #8   Picks:   7-2-4-3
