Joe’s Selections

Race #1:    Picks   3-2-7-6

Race #2:    Picks:  3-5-4-7

Race #3     Picks:   8-6-5-3

Race #4     Picks:   4-3-1-8

Race #5     Picks:   1-2-4-5

In this first-level optional allowance/optional claiming race at one mile and 70 yards #1 The King Cheek (3-2) has been competitive in stakes races and has speed figures superior to the rest of this field. Given those facts and adding the Ness/Rodriguez combination makes him the one to beat. #2 Omati (3-1) is an improving three-year-old who won easily his last time out. He is a very solid second choice and may even compete for the win.  We are going to look at a price horse in the show position. #4 Lord Eddard Stark (12-1) is back at a route after sprinting in last. He has been training well and may get up for a piece of the pie today. #5 Crownedcountcristo (4-1) is another improving three-year-old who was closing in a route in last. A possibility.

Race #6    Picks:  3-1-13-8

Race #7    Picks:  5-2-4-3

In this $65,000 allowance/optional claiming race at one mile #5 Dr Blarney (6-1) may have needed last after a seven-month layoff. He has been working very well and should be prepped to run.  If he can approach last year’s form when he ran some very impressive races he will be tough to beat. We think this eight-year-old still has gas in the tank and we have him on top today. #2 Caribbean (Aus) (2-1) was running very well at Oaklawn before taking a five-month break. If he comes back anywhere near the form he had in Arkansas he will be very competitive in this one. #4 Shane’s Jewel (8-5) loves a wet track. If the track has moisture in it, he will be very dangerous. If the track is dry, we prefer others. #3 Bird King (9-2) has been competitive with this group before and fits well today.

Race #8    Picks:   3-5-6-9
