Joe’s Selections

Race #1   Picks:     8-4-5-2

Race #2   Picks:     4-7-2-3

Race #3   Picks:     3-8-2-5

Race #4   Picks:     1A-4-6-7

Race #5   Picks:     10-5-4-7

Race #6   Picks:     2-1-4-3

In this $65,000 optional claiming race at 6 furlongs #2 Always Sunshine (2-1)
is a very consistent runner who has faces very stiff competition. He is one of the better local sprinters and looks slightly better than any of his competition today He is definitely the one to beat.  #1 Factor It In (3-1) has been very successful running at this level in the past. He beat Arch Cat and won at 32-1 in last. He definitely won’t go off at those odds today.  #4 Arch Cat (4-1) is another game sprinter that is always a factor. If he runs his best he can compete here. #3 Violent Turbulence (10-1) has enough talent to pick up a minor piece but he has to stay off the pace and not try to run with the speed burners.

Note: (For full disclosure I am a minority owner of #3 Violent Turbulence)

Race #7    Picks:     4-11-12-9

The $75,000 Cape Henlopen Stakes at a mile and a half on the turf is a wide open event with many possibilities. #4 Wissahickon (3-1) wasn’t quite good enough to compete in a grade-2 stakes races back in May, but he is facing a much weaker field today. He should handle this group. #11 Cibolian (6-1) won at this distance in last. Trainer Rodolphie Brisset is shipping him from Kentucky and probably wants to make it worth his while. A possibility. #12 Sister Otoole (5-1) Is one of the fillies in the race who will be running against the boys. However, she won at Belmont in her last in a turf route. This one will be running late and has a shot if the frontrunners fail. #9 Mokheef (20-1) has had success at this distance, and past success in a mile and a half race is important. He has a shot.

Note: (#7 Luck Money ran at Saratoga on August, 7 and will likely be scratched)

Race #8   Picks:    7-2-6-1
