Joe’s Selections

  • Race #1: 6-4-3-1
  • Race #2: 2-3-5-4
  • Race #3: 10-1A-3-9
  • Race #4: 6-8-2-4
  • Race #5: 8-5-6-1
  • Race #6: 2-5-3-4
    • In this third-level allowance/optional claiming race at one mile and 70 yard for fillies and mares #2 Landing Zone (2-1) has been running against much better and looks to be the class of this group. She has a bullet 5-furlong work on July 10 and should be able to beat this group. We have her on top.  #5 Sweet Sami D (4-1) is another runner who has been running with better, and this drop should put her right in the mix.  #3 Shyza (3-1) has a lot of early speed and will be the one the others are chasing early. If she can hold well, she might get a piece of the pie today #4 Flashndynamite (6-1) is coming from New York where she ran some decent races at this level. She won’t be outclassed today. A possibility.
  • Race #7: 10-6-4-3
    • In this third-level allowance/optional claiming race at 7 ½ furlongs on the turf #10 Vanzzy (5-1) took an eight-month break after his three-year-old campaign which included a win in the Jersey Derby.  In his return race he got nipped at the wire by closers after battling up front. We hope for a more patient ride this time and if so he has a good shot with this group. #6 Ballagh Rocks (4-1) ran some huge races in New York last year, but has changed trainers many times since then. This 8-year-old may be reaching the end of the line, but may still have a big race left in him. #4 Sand Dancer (10-1) is in for a tag today. He hasn’t run his best in his last two, but has the talent to win at any time. Only three wins lifetime, but he has faced some very tough company. A possibility. #3 Shane’s Jewel (3-1) is 0-for-3 lifetime on the turf but has been in such good form on the dirt that he could make an impact in this one.
  • Race #8: 7-2-5-6
