Joe’s Selections

  • Race 1: 5-6-1-3
  • Race 2: 2-1-6-5
  • Race 3: 3-1-7-6
  • Race 4: 11-8-1-3
  • Race 5: 4-1-5-1
    • In this $40,000 first-level allowance for fillies and mares at one mile, #4 Laobanonaprayer (2-1) did not run well in her last two in New York. Now she is taking the trip to Delaware, and this class drop may be all she needs to get back on track. If she runs back to the races in winter and early spring, she should be able to handle this group. #1 Sense a Million (4-1)  has some very good races in her past performances and if she can repeat one of those she has a shot today. #5 Baby Gundin (3-1) tried the Delaware Oaks in last which turned out to be much too tough for her. Now she is moving back down to a level where she can compete. She has a chance if she runs her best. #7 Intrepid Dream (8-1) won her debut last year and is coming back from a long layoff. I will be using her in the exotics.
  • Race 6: 7-8-4-2
    • In this $38,000 maiden special weight, 5-furlong sprint for 2-year-old fillies, #7 Shemademelucky (8-1) has a nice workout pattern including two 5-furlong workouts. John Robb is 28% with first-time starters and we like this filly on top today.  #8 Maestria (5-2) just missed last time after being steadied midway through the race. If she has a trouble-free trip today she has a good shot for the win today.  #4 California Bella (4-1) is another John Robb starter and her pedigree hints that she might run as a two-year-old. Gary Capuano wins at 22% with two-year-olds, so we are putting #2 My Boss (5-1) in the 4th position.
  • Race 7: 3-7-6-2
    • In this starter/optional claiming race for fillies and mares at five furlongs on the turf, #3 Bound for Broadway (8-1) ran a strong race on the the turf at Pimlico back in May. She was looking for further improvement here last out but the race was taken off the turf. Now she will try the turf again and has a good chance today.  None of the other runners with turf experience look particularly fast, so we will look at dirt runners. #7 Flirtatious Lass (9-2) ran well in last in second back after a long break. She should improve off that race and has a shot today. #6 Castilleja (10-1) has been producing good figures against better horses in Maryland and has a chance for a piece of the pie. #2 Danessa Baby (6-1) is another filly with some turf experience who has run some decent figures. A possibility.
  • Race 8: 5-2-8-3
