Joe’s Selections

  • Race 1: 2-1-4-3
  • Race 2: 1-3-6-5
  • Race 3: 5-4-6-3
  • Race 4: 6-5-7-3
  • Race 5: 3-4-8-7
    • In this $12,500 starter allowance/optional claimer #3 American Ninja (2-1) had a nice win at Parx last time out after coming up from Gulfstream. He has a pressing style that has been working on the Delaware turf. We have him on top today. #4 Quality Step (7-2) is coming from Tampa Bay Downs where he won three of his last four races with good speed figures. He has been working well in the mornings since coming to Delaware and he has a good shot with this group. #8 Tree Shaker (8-1) ran some fast races at Monmouth last year, and probably needed his last. He should improve today and will be in the mix if he can run back to last year’s form. #7 Mokheef (6-1) has speed figures which are competitive with his rivals today and it would not be a shocker if he pulled an upset.
  • Race 6: 3-5-4-6
  • Race 7: 4-3-8-7
    • In this $40,000 first-level allowance race for fillies and mare at a mile and 70 yards on the turf, #4 Made In Italy (Ire) (8-5) was running in Great Britain before her recent try at Belmont. She ran a solid figure and is now getting Lasix for the first time. She looks like the one to beat today, although it appears to take time to get this horse revved up and Daniel Centeno will need to get a better start than this runner got last time when she raced 1 1/4 miles. #3 Ocean Air (2-1) has been running against better at Belmont and has gone off the favorite in her last three with one win. If she can repeat any of her last three she will be right in the mix. She is a definite contender for the top spot today. #8 Viburnum (12-1) has some good races over the turf including a run over the Delaware surface in the Christiana Stakes. She is a possibility if she runs her best. #7 Glamorous Thunder (10-1) has early speed and could be dangerous if speed is holding today.
  • Race 8: 6-5-4-7
