Race 65-6-3-7In this $40,000 allowance race at 5 ½ furlongs for non-winners of one-other-than, #6 Seanow (3-2) looks very strong. This winner of two straight can win on the lead, but is also capable of sitting off the pace and winning. He is sure to go off a strong favorite and there won’t be much value, so we are going to try to beat him with #5 Rileys Dude (3-1). This improving horse had a trainer change after coming up from Tampa and won his first start at Delaware running a strong 77 figure. This three-year-old could improve again off that effort and may not have reached his full potential… Trainer Benjamin Perkins is having a good meet including a win on Thursday and #3 Saltin’ the Rim (4-1) has been working very well since his more to Delaware from Laurel. This one could surprise today… #7 John’s Promise (10-1) is a horse for the course with a strong second in his last start and several wins at Delaware last year. One to consider.
Race 71-2-6-4In this $38,000 maiden special weight for fillies and mares at 5 furlongs on the turf, none of the entrants who have run before has run close to par and most have little or no turf experience. Therefore, we are going with a first time starter. #1 Cycologist (10-1) has the breeding to like the turf and has been working well down at the Fair Grounds. We are going to take a chance with this longshot to win… #2 Mania (9-2) ran against better last year as a two-year-old and probably needed the last. Consistent workout pattern looks promising. She is a contender today… #6 Stir Crazy (5-2) was entered in a route on the turf last out, but that race was taken off and run on dirt. She ran a solid second, but whether she will like the grass is still a question mark… #4 Fast Chica (7-2) is a big question mark. She has not run in eight months but was running against much better at Keeneland last year. Skepticism is warranted until she proves herself.
