Race 12-5-1-5Delaware Park kicks off Saturday’s program with a $12,000 Maiden Claimer at 6 furlongs.  #2 Fred’s Sheila (5-2) appears to be the best runner today. Her last effort on the turf can be thrown out and her two other efforts look strong. She has never had a fast break and I look for jockey Carol Cedeno to try to hustle her out of the gate today… #5 She’s All Courage (9-2) is another horse who has run in Maryland and is trying Delaware for the first time. She almost won last time after a 3-month layoff and her trainer has a 27% winning percentage on second race after a layoff. She looks very dangerous in this spot… #1 Truly a Dream (8-1) is a Tampa shipper who has run a couple of decent races at this level. One to put in the exotics… #6 World Party (9-5) has almost won several races at Delta Downs, but her races weren’t visually impressive. She still has a shot with this group.
Race 39-1-11-7This $25K Maiden claiming race is scheduled for 1 1/16 miles on the grass, though that’s likely to change. If it stays on the turf, #9 Dennard (9-2) looks to have a good chance today. Jamie Ness is bringing him down from Parx for his second try on the turf. His experience on grass last time should help him today. Any improvement over last should make him a winner… #1 Stand With Mo (2-1) also looks like a top competitor in this spot. Christophe Clement is bringing him from New York where he faced tougher last time. This horse was competitive at this level at Tampa but could not get over the line first.  Clement has been has been having bad luck at Delaware Park this meet with five seconds in nine races, but no wins. However, this could be his first… #11 Angel’s Entry (5-1) is another horse that has been competitive in recent races on the turf. He will need to run his best to do any better than the show position… The first-time starter #7 Mentalist (5-1) is worth looking at because Graham Motion is good with runners who are debuting on the turf, and the horse has a nice workout pattern.
Race 86-3-7-1In this $12,500 maiden claiming race at six furlongs #6 Papa Luke (4-1) was with the leaders at the 3rd call last time out who were running a very hot pace. He faded, but if he can get a clear lead this time he will be hard to catch… #3 Purrs Well (8-1) looks overmatched at first glance. But when Baltazar Galvan trained him last time, he almost won several times at Delaware. Perhaps this trainer knows how to train this horse… #7 Drink More Bourbon (8-1) has some early speed and has run his best races at Delaware Park… #1 Keepyourguardup (2-1) ran some good races in Maryland and his trainer does well second race off a layoff.
