RACE NUMBERCONTENDERSCOMMENTS
Race 35-1-3-2In this allowance/optional claiming affair for state-breds, we’ll give the nod to the Javier Contreras-trained #5 Chiefs Kingdom (9-5). This one has had the misfortune to chase the very speedy Malibu Mischief, winner of six straight, in her last couple while tackling much tougher at LRL. Back home, she returns to a track where she’s won six of 14 starts, including four straight at tonight’s 4 1/2-furlong distance… #1 Prime Lime (8-5) galloped against similar last out and, breaking from the rail, might do so again… Give credit to trainer Analia Larrosa, who’s managed to get five wins out of #3 Country Magic (10-1) from 11 starts by making good use of the conditions available. The water’s deeper here, but she enters with two straight wins and is 5-for-10 at the trip… #2 Nellysford (5-1) was a distant second behind Prime Lime two back and then was an even fifth against similar at MNR; it’s been a while since she showed what she’ll need to win here…
Race 45-7-1-2The speed in this 6 1/2-furlong contest looks to be the formful #5 Three Bops (6-1), who’s won two straight going 4 1/2. She hasn’t tried this two-turn trip yet, but this is a reasonable spot where she might be able to control it up front… #7 Brigantine Island (5-2) didn’t miss by much last out going seven, and the slight cutback today to 6 1/2 furlongs might aid the cause… Favored #1 Boundtobebad (2-1) finished a nose ahead of Brigantine Island last out and prior had been chasing the very good Star of Night; there’s no Star of Night in here… Top trainer Jeff Runco has a pair in here, and go-to pilot Bocachica lands on #2 Navy Sword (9-2), who’ll have to overcome Boundtobebad, who was well ahead of her last out in the WVBC…
