Race 1

  1. #4 Sovereign Ruler (3-1): Good enough debut vs. maiden allowance rivals and takes a two-level drop to land here; addition of journeyman Carrasco can aid cause
  2. #5 Astro Pop Kid (5-1): Parx shipper gets blinks on for first time here today; competed vs. similar three back
  3. #7 Dynamic Kid (9-2): Bug boy Hamilton retains mount for second straight; runner didn’t show much vs. better in last, out of which show horse graduated in follow-up; Hamilton and trainer Trombetta are 0-for-20 together

Race 2

  1. #8 – Lady by Choice (8-5): Just missed vs. three-other-than rivals in last and already owns two allowance wins; three-for-five at the trip and figures to be a handful against these
  2. #4 – Margie’s Money (3-1): Allowance winner galloped at this level in last
  3. #2 – Pass a Mento (12-1): Speedy sort never could make the lead in last, when the field ripped off a 21 3/5 opening quarter; will hope for more moderate early tempo in here

Race 3

  1. #4 – Trusting Friend (7-2): Improving Gonzalez trainee has won four straight, cleared this hurdle in last
  2. #2 – Mandel (9-5): Deserving chalk bested allowance foes in last and owns highest last-out speed fig of the group; figures to be involved early

Race 4

  1. #11 – Miss Gray (4-1): Thrashed in last vs. better but galloped by five in last tilt vs. similar

  3. #2 – Nancy R (8-1): Rarely wins but often runs well enough to cash a check

Race 5

  1. #6 – L’Overture (30-1): Odd trip in last when breaking alertly, wrangled back to last, and galloping around the track; expecting a more engaged effort today
  2. #9 – Arrivederci (5-2): Third start off a nine-month break for Doran trainee who just missed vs. better two back; makes drop to easier spot here and probably needs to graduate now; two from each of last two starts won their follow-ups
  3. #12 – Seventyseven Force (4-1): Talley trainee has been second and third in last two vs. similar

Race 8

  1. #1 – Any Darn Day (9-2): First off the claim for trainer Worton (23%) after Any Given Saturday gelding romped to six-length win; runner-up from his graduation (#3 Vicar’s Chalice) graduated in next and shows up here
  2. #6 – Runabout (8-5): Figures to take plenty of action at the windows after back-to-back runner-up efforts at this level, but four straight losses here make expected short odds sub-optimal
  3. #4 – Iwishiwaspecial (4-1): Drops a half-step after runner-up effort at CT

Race 9

  1. #6 – Born to Shop (2-1): Odds are too short in this group but Gorham trainee catches major class relief here; expecting her to handle the main track ok
  2. #1 – At the Rapids (15-1): Showed nothing on debut, but that’s not uncommon in this contest
