As far as condition of the main track… the forecast for the northern D.C. suburbs is for Partly Sunny skies with temps in the low-70’s and zero chance of precipitation. The below selections are based on the main track condition being listed as “Fast.”

Race 1

  1. #2 – Andrasta (9-2): First time in for tag after 3 of 4 career tries in turf
  2. #3 – Belle Allessandra (5-1): Magee turns to 4th different jock in as many lifetime starts for this Friesan Fire offspring  
  3. #6 – Solid Silver (5-2): Showed very late interest at this level 2 races back     

 

Race 2  

  1. #1 – Retire Fifty Five (4-1): Cuts back from one mile after game effort to salvage SHOW purse    
  2. #3 – I’ll Play My Hand (9-5): Tried turf in most recent effort after breaking maiden for $40k     
  3. #6 – Lostinthestars (7-2): Faces winners for 1st time after trouncing MCL $16k gate-to-wire

 

Race 3  

  1. #7 – Academic Affair (2-1): CA export makes 1st start for Ness (27%) after no luck on GG synthetic or Los Al dirt  
  2. #8 – Afleet Willy (9-5): Has been in the mix in each of 5 career starts; runner-up at same level last time       
  3. #5 – No Knock Raid (20-1): Giving this gelding a look in 3rd start, 1st w/o blinkers

  2.  #2 – Alfar (15-1): Prx rider Rosado keeps mount on shipper who gets Lasix 1st time in 3rd start
  3.  #10 – Paradise Bird (4-1): Daughter of Summer Bird will relish added distance

  1. #1 – Techwood (10-1): $Longshot Play$ Always gives an honest effort at this bottom level; gets a boost w/ Carrasco in the irons
  2. #13 – Prospector Alley (8-1): Got 2nd lifetime win via DQ for $7,500; climbing Brisnet#’s gives hope
  3. #6 – Pavlick (15-1): 2 of 3 career wins came at this distance from just 5 attempts; X-Man back aboard is a plus  

 

Race 6  

  1. #7 – Rumblin Kyle (5-1): Hard luck in past 3 races; McCarthy takes over and could prove to be the difference maker         
  2. #1 – Sugimoto (2-1): Son of Lemon Drop Kid gets added distance which didn’t go well last year, but seems to have matured since       
  3. #6 – Unblunted (3-1): W. Potts takes over for this former CA runner whose form went south this summer

 

Race 7

  1. #1 – Harbor Breeze (8-5): On a three race win streak, last 2 at this level, will have plenty of company early though  
  2. #11 – Magic Harbor (7-2): Two straight 90+ Brisnet#s since C. Lynch claim v. better @ Prx  
  3. #5 – No Brakes (10-1): Short on speed figures but should pass all the early speed in deep stretch

 

Race 8

  1. #11 – Maybe Tonight (7-5): Definitely this afternoon! Loves distance (6:3-0-1) & Lrl (5:2-2-1)        
  2. #10 – For Finery (15-1): Could be a sleeper based on showing nothing be turf in PPs; has hit board in both dirt efforts  
  3. #4 – Purple Friday (10-1): Goes for natural Hat Trick while stepping up in class & sporting improved speed figures     

 

Race 9  

  1. #1 – Super Fund (9-2): *Best Bet* Away since Feb. makes 3rd career start for Motion barn; in for tag but like the work tab  
  2. #5 – Tricky Lion (8-1): Rare maiden claim for $16k by D. Capuano; step up no big deal based on competing at this level in earlier races  
  3. #11 – Tempt Me Twice (10-1): 1st time in for a tag in 4th career start; has shown a bit of early foot, could take this group gate-to-wire

  • Saturday December 26th at Laurel Park had 4 winners from 9 races (1 Top Selection; payoff in BOLD) having $2 WIN pay-off of $13.40 (2nd race), $8.80 (4th), $10.80 (6th) and $8.20 (8th).
  • BEST BET of the Day (131: 35-29-23) Ravenheart (6th race: 9-2 M/L; 4-1 PT) broke a step slow, recovered then tugged his way forward while between rivals, tracked three wide around the turn, bumped with SHOWALTER when that one drifted out soon into the lane, regrouped and forged clear under left handed rousing in mid-stretch, wandered outward when meeting the challenge of FLASH MCCAUL inside the sixteenth marker, failed to switch leads but dug in tenaciously to prevail to return $10.80 to WIN, $5.20 to PLACE and $3.40 to SHOW.
  • LONGSHOT PLAY OF THE DAY (125: 14-15-23) Any Court Inastorm (8th race: 10-1 M/L; 9-1 PT) bumped and squeezed at the break, angled in soon after and settled, cut the corner rallying into the lane, altered out in mid-stretch and continued on well to the wire missing runner-up position by a head to return $4.80 to SHOW.
