* Laurel Park has closed the turf courses for the season. As far as condition of the main track… the forecast for the northern D.C. suburbs is for Mostly Cloudy skies with temps in the upper-40’s and 20% chance of rain. The below selections are based on the main track condition being listed as “Fast.”

Race 1

  1. #5 – Avery’s Parade (15-1): $Longshot Play$ Late rallying sprinter stretches out to one mile in 3rd race after layoff
  2. #8 – Chance Encounter (3-5): Too many chances as PT favorite only to disappoint… once again?
  3. #7 – Smooth Approach (12-1): Showed late interest 1st off the bench; w/ Mejias in irons she’ll be in the mix earlier; G. Mobberley is overdue

Race 2

  1. #5 – Double Whammy (8-5): Appears to be lone speed and likes Lrl dirt oval (4: 2-1-0) though both wins came at shorter distances
  2. #4 – Strike ‘n Spare (5-2): Dangerous duo Carrasco/Gonzalez (31%) at meet; this grey is 3 for 9 at Lrl while 1 for 18 elsewhere
  3. #1 – Burnt Offering (6-1): Earned best “last outing” Brisnet# among this group; 6 for 14 at distance

Race 3

  1. #4 – One Nine Nine (3-1): Import from WO makes 1st natural dirt effort (& for W. Potts) in 22nd career start
  2. #2 – Breezy Girl (5-1): Away 60 days; has done well v. similar; cut back might help
  3. #6 – Turnout (9-5): Comes north for the winter off rough GPW campaign & continues to drop?!

Race 4

  1. #3 – Mongolian King (9-5): *Best Bet* Tough headbob loss as PT fav. in Lrl bow; gate-to-wire today
  2. #1/1A – Resurgence/Runaway Dude (6-1): Both of these “House Horses” might go; #1 has had time off to mature; #1A is FTS w/ extensive work tab including 6f bullet
  3. #5 – Kaitain (2-1): Voss does well w/ “2nd after layoff” runners (25%); huge rally going 6f in slop but can he stretch out?

Race 5

  1. #1/1A – Cooking Up a Storm/Charleston Pier (6-1): One will likely scratch as McCarthy listed on both; prefer #1 w/ nice Lrl try when shipped from Pid; #1A takes steep drop but Brooks 35% that angle
  2. #3 – Ration (15-1): Closer will get plenty of pace help early; has turned in career best Brisnet#s at Lrl from just 3 starts of his 35 career outings
  3. #11 – Oliver Zip (5-1): Suspect class drop 2nd after claim but connections enjoy trips to the Winners Circle; could be pace victim

Race 6

  1. #6 – Roman Magic (7-2): Best two finishes have come at this distance in as many tries; logical choice if class droppers don’t fire
  2. #3 – Cordova (7-5): Big drop off not the cleanest of trips in just 2nd natural dirt try; somebody need $$$ for Christmas shopping?
  3. #1 – Pefiolo (5-2): Drops to new low seeking elusive 2nd win; has highest & most consistent Brisnet#’s but recorded lowest one of the year in most recent effort

Race 7

  1. #10 – Isofass (6-1): Abbott adds blinkers (23%) and stretches out (24%) this colt in 2nd career race (31%), yet he’s only 10% overall in ‘15
  2. #8 – Keepyourpowderdry (6-1): Chilly on tote in debut; lost all chance at start but got an education with a nice middle move and galloped out strong
  3. #7 – Abiding Star (4-1): Earned best Brisnet#(85) in his most recent of 5 career starts, going two turns and got gelded for his efforts

Race 8

  1. #9 – Triple Burner (10-1): Caught in a speed duel last outing when 1st time on dirt; could be lone speed so extra ½ furlong won’t matter
  2. #3 – Cho Time (4-1): Won as GQ Best Bet in last outing when 4-wide entire trip; can repeat
  3. #1 – Team Tim (8-1): Nightmarish trip 1st after layoff in $100k local stakes yet was only 3 back of winner; bullet since shows he’s fit

Race 9

  1. #6 – Cowtown Brown (8-5): If we get 8-5 at PT, then ya better look to the East for 3 wise men!
  2. #7 – Christmas Barn (7-2): A week early; could run herself and #6 into the ground setting it up for another to yield a lot of Christmas cash at the windows
  3. #2 – Saturday Blues (5-1): Destroyed N2L for $5k in Oct. here but idle since… not even a pub. work
