* Laurel Park on Friday there are three races (3rd, 6th, 8th) scheduled to be run on the TURF. Forecast for the northern D.C. suburbs is for Mostly Sunny skies with high temps in the low-60’s and just a slight chance of precipitation. The below selections are based on those races remaining ON THE TURF listed as “Good” and main track condition to be listed as “Fast”.

Race 1

  1. #6 – Azuma Mura (4-1): Well beaten in minor stakes @ Prx when wide; broke maiden here
  2. #2 – Frequently (5-2): Asmussen runner @ Lrl?! Nice 1st effort v. winners @ Prx
  3. #7 – California Wildcat (2-1): Won in 1st start for Ness after exiting two starts @ GG

Race 2

  1. #5 – Cowtown Brown (7-5): Stole a $5k Claimer off win & drop from this level ($10k)
  2. #3 – Pony Romo (12-1): Closer gets plenty of early speed to chase down late; Has won off layoff
  3. #4 – Chilly Start (8-5): Gate to wire winner in OC16k might need to stalk in here to win

* Race 3

  1. #12 –Star Maneuver (10-1): $Longshot Play$ Drops to lowest level since being claimed in Jan.; outfit seeking some $$$ before turf season ends; Jeremy Rose sighting in irons
  2. #9 – Fantod (9-5): Will have company early, but likes turf w/ “give” & holds speed figure edge
  3. #5 – Skeleton Crew (8-1): Consistent turf runner at this level had opening in mid-stretch that closed and stymied his typical late rally

Race 4

  1. #6– Pavlick (6-1): Pen shipper is only 3-race winner among this group also has top Prime Power#
  2. #1/1A – Minor Crisis/Consistency (2-1): Strong duo; both come off runner-up efforts v. similar
  3. #7 – Cleburne (6-1): From G3 winner to $5k Claimer in 8 races; maybe crazy thinking Lacey can right this ship

Race 5

  1. #4 –Quality Wise (9-2): Back to distance (5½f) best suited for him based on earlier races; steps up off claim
  2. #6 – Holiday Touch (9-5): Turf and synthetic runner drops in class for just 2nd natural dirt start; 1st one was so-so @ Kee
  3. #5 – Indygo Knight (5-1): Broke maiden in last @ Pen v. cheaper but earned best last race Brisnet# of this bunch; Bug Boy Felix comes down to keep mount

* Race 6

  1. #5 – Compliance Officer (1-1): Game 9 y.o. NY shipper/turf runner tries to finish the year on a winning note taking steep drop
  2. #9 – Soup d’Coupe (7-2): Reclaimed by G. Capuano 2 back; but contracted “2nd-itis” again?
  3. #3 – Flyingtobechilders (5-1): Should improve off 1st time going two-turns in most recent effort

Race 7

  1. #6 – Elusive Joni (7-5): Early speed sprinting in only 2 career starts; will handle stretch out based on breeding
  2. #7 – Broad Causeway (7-2): Has underperformed on turf in first 4 starts; works on dirt look good
  3. #9 – Cherished Prize (10-1): Must respect R. Jenkins w/ 2nd career start runners (23%); this one built for two-turns

* Race 8

  1. #1 – Cavort (7-2): Troubled trips in last 2 denied her of any chance to run on late; it’s time she gets some racing (good) luck
  2. #9 – Just a Glance Away (10-1): Stretches back out after 3 local turf sprints; broke maiden at first asking on turf going long @ Pen
  3. #8 – Secret Or Not (9-2): Game effort 1st time v. winners in latest; could find herself on front end w/ chance to wire this field

Race 9

  1. #6 – Celtic Lord (8-5): *Best Bet* Much the second best versus similar in local bow; needs pace help
  2. #3 – Slews Love (4-1): Last 2 look ugly at this level but ran behind 3 next out winners 2 back
