[su_heading size=”21″ align=”left”]Analysis[/su_heading]

* Laurel Park on Sunday has five (5) races (1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th, 8th) scheduled to be run on the TURF. Forecast for the northern D.C. suburbs is for Partly Sunny skies with high temps near 60 and just a 15% chance of precipitation. The below selections are based on the TURF being “Firm” and a “Fast” main dirt track.

* Race 1

  1. #3 – Soup d’Coupe (7-5): Fresh off victory for $15k drops for Ness (36% this angle); figures he’s made $$$ on this claim, if you want a 7 y.o. gelding, knock yourself out
  2. #8 – Outofthedepths (8-1): This is the guy who Photo Bombed my avatar shot; toss last, Hole needs to get him to the lead; he’s still game
  3. #12 – Mott (15-1): KTL has had him on the shelf for 13 months; A.M. drills prove he’s still got 4 legs; worth a flyer

Race 2

  1. #9 – Bluegrass Fox Trot (6-1): Toss turf try in last; should be forwardly placed here to avoid any issues
  2. #6 – Doc Cebu (6-1): Just when the public gave up on this Magee trainee, he won (6-1) on slop; track will be lightning fast today
  3. #2 – No Its Not (9-5): Came up a nose short in an “open $5K” last start; 4 of 34 lifetime but 3 of 8 this distance

* Race 3

  1. #7 – Lana’s Fortune (8-1): Owns top Brisnet# on turf among this group of maidens; could get diploma in 11th career start
  2. #12 – Secret or Not (5-2): Blossomed when sent two-turns on the grass; questioning will to win
  3. #5 – Pinata Cat (7-2): Motion may have taken past 2 months to build her stamina to carry her speed this routing distance

Race 4

  1. #3 – Last Confession (10-1): $Longshot Play$ Had a REALLY BAD stumble at start when 3-2 PT fav. v. similar; jock rushed him up 5-6 wide on turn, then flattened out in stretch
  2. #7 – Sunrise Bird (3-1): Cuts back a furlong after missing in a headbob at this level
  3. #2 – Gentle Johnny (7-2): House Horse faces winners for the first time; if he gets early lead, could wire this field

* Race 5

  1. #7 – Dance With Gio (6-1): Comes off dull effort in MD Million Ladies; A.M. bullet drill indicates she should be up to challenge this group
  2. #8 – Unspoken (8-5): Father-in-law (H. Wolfendale) has done well w/ his son-in-law’s (T. Morley) former trainee; 2 for 3 on Lrl lawn
  3. #1 – Moral High Ground (12-1): Sprinting on turf has never been this mares game; will need some help on the front end so early speed can come back to her in deep stretch

Race 6

  1. #8 – California Wildcat (7-2): Makes natural dirt debut after two @ GG to start career; works at Pleasanton before coming East are impressive
  2. #5 – Destination Love (6-1): McCarthy back in irons when runner-up as PT fav. 2 back; track might be favoring early speed… like hers
  3. #9 – Sophiatown (15-1): FTS by Teuflesburg has an extensive work tab; might be quick w/ a gate-to-wire chance based on final gate drill

* Race 7

  1. #1 – Vielsalm (3-1): Always in the mix; loves Lrl lawn (7:3-2-0); makes first start for L. Ashby
  2. #5 – Voluptuous (10-1): Sheds blinkers; rough trip in local bow for Stidham barn
  3. #12 – Comedia (7-2): Running style changed since coming off early summer layoff; switch back to Garcia may change those tactics

* Race 8

  1. #4 – Domo Artiegato (3-1): *Best Bet* Has improved Brisnet# every race since debut; Delacour/Boyce combo 6 for 10 at current meet
  2. #7 – Slip and Drive (5-2): Pulled upset at 13-1 in most recent race v. N1x; could be indication he’s returning to old form
  3. #13 – I.C. Lightning (12-1): Preciado trainee has taken a liking to Lrl lawn (2:1-1-0) whenever he’s shipped down from Prx

Race 9

  1. #10– Kind of Silver (4-1): Drops from $25k after 4th twice at that level for F. Allen
  2. #8 – Bama Sam (12-1): Curious claim of FTS for $16k; Gonzalez has had success 1st after claim (28%)
  3. #12 – Hot Feet (7-5): Addition of blinkers in 2nd start and drop from $40k to $16k nearly got the diploma in most recent effort
