[su_heading size=”21″ align=”left”]Analysis[/su_heading]

* Laurel Park on Sunday has five (5) races (3rd, 4th, 6th, 7th, 9th) scheduled to be run on the TURF. Forecast for the northern D.C. suburbs is for Mostly Sunny skies with high temps in the mid-50s and no chance of precipitation. The below selections are based on the TURF being “Firm” and a “Fast” main dirt track.

Race 1

  1. #5 – Blazing Brother (9-2): Connections believe he’ll be something special based on the $$$ bet on him both starts
  2. #6 – Bissinger (3-1): Lost by 11 last outing yet earned an 80 Brisnet#, tops in this field; lost to top pick in debut
  3. #7 – Louis the Great (4-1): Evenly in state bred stakes sprinting could translate into a “W” stretching out to 1 mile

Race 2

  1. #8 – Van Fraassen (3-1): Brisnet# has increased over past 2 dirt races; needs a clean break from the gate
  2. #3 – Open the Bank (6-1): Big drop from $25k on grass to $5k on dirt; 3rd since layoff to address bleeding issue
  3. #2 – Gambit’s Delight (9-2): 1 for 1 at distance; was getting at today’s M/L fav. (#7) last effort & gets extra 1/16th

* Race 3

  1. #1 – Longing to Travel (10-1): Look thru rivals PP’s for key horse Hard to Want & you’ll know why this one is top pick
  2. #2 – Soul Man (7-2): High profile connections willing to “cut bait” (in for Tag); McCarthy in the irons gives hope
  3. #4 – Sideling Hill (5-1): Should be able to get early lead and X-Man can nurse him thru soft fractions; could steal it

* Race 4

  1. #13 – Perfect Trace (9-2): AE* Ran a HUUUUUUGE race losing a neck last time when 25-1; betting it wasn’t a fluke
  2.  #3 – Mucho Blessings (10-1): Toledo signing on is encouraging; willing to toss last one “off the turf” or should Blinkers come off?
  3.  #2 – Pleasant Wind (12-1): On the bench since being claimed in Aug.; must respect based on stats (45% – 1ST after claim; 43% – 1st after 46-90 day layoff)
    If AE* does not draw in use #9 – Honor N Grace (12-1): Runner-up at a price when roughed up 1st time v. winners

Race 5

  1. #3 – Dixie Deputy (6-1): PT fav. in past 6 of 10 races; part of Exacta in all 5 races @ Lrl; 11 for 32 lifetime; 6-1?!
  2. #9 – Jarrod’s Commando (3-1): Follows the pattern “wins 3rd race after layoff” which occurs for 3rd time in ’15 today
  3. #7 – Burning Mandate (6-1): Needs & should get a quick pace to come back to him in the stretch; never OTB @ Lrl

* Race 6

  1. #2 – Came Back (9-2): Making an educated guess that the rail (#1) is his Achilles heel & needs outside run
  2. #10 – Star Maneuver (15-1): Back sprinting on turf after showing early speed then fading in 2 one mile affairs on dirt
  3. #3 – Catalactic (5-2): 7 y.o. has been rallying late while coming up short against much better than this group

* Race 7

  1. #7 – Lady Turkana (7-2): *Best Bet* Led for 5f going 6 @ KD, beaten 4¼ by G1 BC Juv. Fillies Turf 4th place finisher
  2. #12 – Dare to Be (2-1): Runner-up in both career races sprinting of turf; logical choice based on Brisnet#’s
  3. #11 – Gracie’s Way (12-1): Nice work tab for $160k yearling purchase by Giant’s Causeway; D. Capuano has had success w/ FTS on turf (2 for 5)

Race 8

  1. #2 – My Magician (5-2): Cuts back to 6, her best distance (3:1-1-0); holds significant edge in Brisnet Prime Power#
  2. #8 – Simmadownnow (4-1): Comes off horrific trip on Lrl lawn; reunited w/ “Special K” bent on curing her of 2nd-itis
  3. #6 – Fashionable Frolic (6-1): Makes trips down I-95 (from Del) for Lrl debut; major improvement since claim 4 back

* Race 9

  1. #10 – Lady Dyna (9-2): Faced tough group in $200k stakes @ KD when “in tight late”; Brisnet#’s are climbing
  2. #8 – Enchanterese (4-1): Failed as lukewarm fav. here in N.A. debut; no excuses; like the 7f works since
  3. #4 – Clutchingatstraws (5-1): Boyce/Delacour combo scoring at obscene pct. (63% at meet; 44% past year); Nuff said

Race 10

  1. #12 – Happytown (12-1): $Longshot Play$ 1 of 2 in here who have gone beyond 6f on dirt; running line in both sprints & bloodlines indicate she wants at least 7f
  2. #6 – R Rousey (9-2): Blinkers Off! Made very wide move to get by leg-weary rivals; stretch outing to 7f a plus
  3. #2 – My Awsome Alie (6-1): FTS sent out by M. Pino barn who wins w/ 24% of debut maiden claimers
